The rule that the degree of alcohol cannot be lowered is a myth

If you start your dinner with a glass of beer, then move on to dry wine, then to port, and towards the end – to vodka, not the happiest morning awaits you. But you did everything “right” – did not lower the degree.

The point is that the rule “do not lower the degree” during libation is nothing more than a myth. Consistency is irrelevant here. Moreover, in English-speaking countries there is a proverb “ before , you’re in the clear ”, which recommends drinking a stronger drink first and then less.

Get drunk with benefit

A special study on this issue was recently conducted by scientists from the University of Witten in Germany. Their experiment involved 90 people, men and women, aged 19 to 40, who were divided into 3 groups according to height and weight.

The first group “raised the degree” – first they drank beer, then wine, the second group, on the contrary, drank beer after wine, and the participants of the third group drank only one drink – either beer or wine.

The degree of hangover was measured by experts according to 8 indicators: from the severity of headache and dizziness to the presence of thirst and nausea. It turned out that the sequence of alcoholic beverages did not affect the well-being of the participants in the experiment, but a large amount of alcohol consumed could lead to a severe hangover.

Interestingly, women complained of poor health more often than men, and this is completely regardless of which group of subjects they were in.

Therefore, if you raise or lower the degree, it will not play a role in your state the next morning. Most importantly, it is not recommended to simultaneously consume 2 or more different types of alcohol and, of course, know when to stop!

Don’t let these 90 guys down, who were drinking with might and main, trying to prove that a decrease or increase in the degree does not matter if the alcohol is poured without measure.

Be healthy!
