The Culinary Zinema of San Sebastián is back

The Cinema and Gastronomy meet again in the city of San Sebastian, sharing the poster within the activities of the Film Festival.

This year the 63rd edition of the Film Festival San Sebastian which returns with an important section dedicated to our best culinary art, gastronomy.

The artistic proposal for this Fifth edition of the Culinary Zinema, is promoted by the Basque Culinary Center (BBC) and several prestigious restaurants, where important figures of the gastronomic scene and renowned International chefs, they will prepare their respective menus created for the occasion very much in line with the film that will be screened that day.

There will be 7 days of cinema, from September 19 to 25, and good gastronomy, which will unleash a torrent of creativity and culinary ingenuity that will once again show that the art of celluloid is and can be much more linked to good food and nutrition, than what has accustomed us in the last decades.

In the previous edition of the Culinary Zinema, the fourth, the novelty was the € 10.000 prize awarded by the jury chosen by the Japanese contest of the Tokyo Gohan Film Festival, which created a really attractive expectation from the plane of the filmographic creation, to the projections during the days of the festival.

The shorts and feature films that will be presented at the Festival and the Chefs that will combine the screening of each of them are detailed below:

  • BRASS (short film) and CROSS COUNTRY. Mugaritz, intuiting a path (feature film). The Chef will be Andoni Luis Aduriz and the restaurant that of the Basque Culinary Center.
  • EAT KNOWLEDGE  (short film) and Las HISTORIAS DE SIDRA (feature film). Chefs will be Gorca Txapartegi, Zuriñe García and the restaurant that of the Basque Culinary Center.
  • LITTLE FOREST – WINTER/SPRING (feature film). The chef will be Rubén Trincado and the restaurant El Mirador de Ulía.
  • NOMA, MY PERFECT STORM (feature film). The Chef will be Victor Wagman and the restaurant that of the Basque Culinary Center.
  • CEBICHE DNA (feature film). Chefs will be Mikel Gallo, Jorge Muñoz and the restaurant Ni Neu.
  • COCINATING AT THE END OF THE WORLD (feature film). The Chefs will be a representation of the Group Nine Cooks and the restaurant that of the Basque Culinary Center. 
  • COOKING UP A TRIBUTE (feature film). The Chef will be Alejandro Ruiz (Mx) and the restaurant that of the Basque Culinary Center.

Since last September 1, the joint tickets for dinner and projection have been available for sale through the website of the San Sebastián film festival. And from this Friday, individual tickets for the screenings of short and feature films are also offered for sale, without dinners.
