The 7 cities to go “De tapas por Galicia”

Seven cities of the Galician community come together to promote different initiatives related to gastronomy, tapas and the culinary art of the Northwest of the peninsula.

“Tapas in Galicia”, is framed in the activities related to the VIII Centenary of the pilgrimage of San Francisco de Asís to Santiago de Compostela.

The routes, celebrations and contests that will take place throughout the fall are sponsored by the Xunta de Galicia and by the local beer company, Estrella Galicia.

The most representative cities will show us their events from this weekend so that we can know, visit, eat and taste local delicacies in a festive and leisure environment.

The different participating establishments will decorate themselves for their particular aperitif and tapas contests, which is so common in these places.

Seafood, meat, vegetables, … all local raw materials will be made with exquisite simplicity so that the products do not lose their origin or the flavors and smells that remind us …, the countryside, the sea …

  1. To start the city of Cristal, La Coruna, will celebrate the “Picadillo tapas contest” which will run from September 12 to 28. In it we will be able to appreciate and enjoy the best Atlantic flavored creations and above all the excellent fusion of tradition and avant-garde.
  2. La Romana Lugo, at the same time celebrate your Tapas contest, in this case from September 12 to 30, where restaurateurs will put their kitchens to full power so as not to disappoint the saying, “To eat, Lugo... “
  3. The also interior Orense announces the contest of “autumn skewers “ from October 27 to November 11, where its union of roads since the time of Caesar, perfectly combines the mixture between the countryside and the sea … and its great wines from the Ribera Sacra.
  4. The south will begin next, it will be Vigo with its “Tapas contest” to be held from October 30 to November 2. The tapas in its streets will come alive again just as when the French already roamed its streets back in the XNUMXth century. 
  5. The next to go on stage will be the capital of the community Santiago de Compostela with its “Santiago is tapas”, from November 6 to 23. in it we can visit dozens of places to taste their bites between arcades in the purest style of a “gastronomic pilgrimage ”.
  6. Moving forward in the month “Pontedetapas ” en Pontevedra, from November 28 to December 8. Delicacies from the estuary, to the bar, … clams, spider crabs, crabs, mussels, scallops, monkfish, turbot, etc … all the sea without forgetting Galician meats to compete for the award for the best tapas.
  7. The illustrated event will culminate Ferrol where its estuary and its natural port bring us “Tap Ferrol”. From December 4 to 8 creativity where “Joy and good humor reign”
