Sushi: recipe for cooking

Rolls “Philadelphia” with smoked salmon

This recipe is an example of how easy it is to make sushi at home. It uses not raw, but smoked fish, which simplifies the selection of quality ingredients.

You will need: – 250 g of Japanese round grain rice for sushi; – 150 g of smoked salmon; – 4 sheets of nori seaweed; – 200 g of Philadelphia cream cheese; – a small cucumber; – a small bell pepper; – 5 tbsp. rice vinegar; – 1 tbsp. sugar; – 1 tsp. salt; – soy sauce; – wasabi.

Start your meal by boiling rice. This is the most important step in the roll recipe. Rinse the Japanese rice in 5–6 waters so that it is not too sticky. Then fold the cereal into a saucepan and fill with water so that it covers the rice by two fingers. Put on medium heat and cook for 20-25 minutes, you cannot stir. The rice should be soft and smooth. Cool the resulting mass to such a temperature that the rice does not burn your hands. Heat the rice vinegar, dissolve the sugar and salt in it. Pour the resulting liquid into the rice and stir.

Take a mat and wrap it in plastic wrap. Place a nori sheet on the mat, and on top – an even layer of rice no more than 0,5 cm thick. Leave one of the edges of the algae sheet free for later fastening the roll. Put a strip of fish on the rice, brush it with cream cheese, add cucumber and bell pepper, cut into thin strips. Roll the roll gently by pressing down with a mat to compact the rice. Moisten the edge free of rice with water and use it to secure the roll. Cut the finished dish across into 8 pieces. Serve the rolls with soy sauce and a serving of wasabi.

Few people know that in many cases it is allowed to eat sushi not only with chopsticks, but also with your hands. In the latter case, a warm, damp towel should be served to each guest.
