Serums: the big show

Anti-stain is trendy!

Close

No wonder, because one in two women makes the fight against dark spots her beauty priority. Spots shade the complexion at any age. At 20 years old, imperfections or inflammations (traces of acne, etc.), such as hormonal changes, can generate spots. Over time, the activity of melanocytes (tanning cells) varies, and the skin responds to the repeated onslaught of sunlight with uncontrolled production of melanin. The spots affect all skin types, all skin tones (clear, matt…). The anti-dark spot serum corrects discolouration of the complexion and improves the radiance of the skin. By uniformizing the skin, it gives it a sharper and more luminous appearance. A precaution: follow a sun protection index SPF 15 minimum (September days can be very sunny), because you will not find serums with sun filters. The reason ? They must be able to be used in the morning as in the evening, and their texture slips wonderfully under any sun product.

Activators: caressing textures

Do you still believe that the serum has a watery and transparent texture, that it is used as a cure and must be followed by a cream? False ! Today, the serums offer the whole range of textures, from fine oil to ultra-fluid emulsion, including gel, with a majority of “white” emulsified serums. A word of advice: try them before you buy them, otherwise you might have surprises! Most are hydrating and self-sufficient. Serums are now designed to be applied every day, alone (for normal to combination skin) or as a supplement to daily care (for dry skin). The most sheathing have a gelled texture.

The star texture also wins over eye contour treatments. The eye area is the part that marks the fastest with age. State-of-the-art, eye contour serums combine lightness and melting, diffusing their active ingredients to refresh and illuminate the eyes. Devoid of fatty substance, they do not swell the eyes. Apply them before the face serum.

Serums: concentrates in active ingredients

Whether they are called serums, elixirs, essences, concentrates or activators, their content of active ingredients is two to three times higher than that of a cream, and their vocation is to take the active ingredients to the deep layers of the skin. Their texture is also more penetrating. Their power of action is greater, and the results obtained faster. These “performers” give facial treatment a boost. Granted, they are more expensive than classic creams, but very little is needed: 2 or 3 drops for the whole face when they are equipped with a pipette (1 only when it is a contour of the eyes), 2 pressures if they are packaged in a pump-bottle. Hyper fluid, they spread very well and act for a long time.

Back to school is the perfect time to test them: the skin comes back from vacation thirsty, with an increased need for regeneration. The originality of the moment? They have nothing to envy the most efficient creams, because their deep biological effects are also doubled with immediate optical effects (smoothing, tightening, plumping, light…). They boost the skin, allow it to replenish active ingredients and act in record time.

To each his own serum

Kings of anti-aging, serums open up to a younger target with new shine and hydration claims, more universal. Or purifying, soothing actions … Champion of cell regeneration and post-vacation repair, this star product remains largely in the anti-aging. If you tuck in with crumpled, more marked skin, this is the one for you. With the omnipresent hyaluronic acid, it offers a real “plump” effect. Another advantage: slightly tightening (but without cardboard effect), it curves, illuminates and refreshes the mine.

As for the purifying serum, rich in water and reduced in fatty substances, it will delight combination or oily skin. There is no risk with it of dilating the 300 or so pores on our face – it is creams that are too rich in fatty substances that clog them. Mattifying, it rebalances the production of sebum and allows you to put on make-up immediately.
