Stuffy nose, tearing, sneezing, hives, itching… “Every year, the number of those who suffer from allergies, especially in big cities, is growing,” says Tibetan medicine doctor Yulia Yusipova. Air pollution changes the composition of pollen, increasing the allergenic potential of plants. That is why many of those who were previously unaware of it are faced with allergies today. Alas, as soon as we begin to react to external stimuli, we are doomed to experience allergy attacks every year. And yet it is in our power to reduce the intensity and number of attacks. Moreover, it is simply necessary to do this, since up to 80% of allergy manifestations can develop into asthma over time (1).

Allergy to flowering begins in April and lasts until the end of September. “Allergy sufferers have a particularly hard time during the May holidays (birch pollen) and in early August, the time of flowering of grasses,” Yulia Yusipova clarifies. “In order to reduce the intensity of an exacerbation, it is worth preparing for it properly.” Measures should be taken one to two weeks before the start of flowering of the allergen plant and continue until the end of flowering.

Drink more clean water

According to Tibetan medicine, allergies (especially in children) are associated with an excess of heat in the body. It occurs if the temperature during colds and viral diseases is brought down even before it becomes necessary. Then the heat does not “ripen”, but remains in the body, acquiring a chronic form and manifesting itself in the form of an allergy. In more Western medical parlance, the immune system, which fights the virus with heat, is not able to keep up with the disease. The water helps to “cool down” the heat.

Use turmeric and saffron

The cause of allergies in adults is often pollution of the liver – the “filter” of our body. The reason for this may be the abundance of fatty and fried foods on the menu, nitrates and pesticides, as well as polluted air. To gently cleanse the liver, Tibetan medicine uses turmeric or saffron. Preparing these “medicines” is easy. Mix half a teaspoon of turmeric in a glass of natural yogurt. Drink in the morning on an empty stomach or in the afternoon, half an hour before dinner. Another option is saffron water before breakfast. Pour two or three strands of saffron into 200-250 ml of warm water and leave to infuse overnight.

Prepare rice water

This powerful sorbent removes substances from the body that are formed in the blood and digestive tract during the development of an allergic reaction. In addition, rice water strengthens the immune system. Preparing it is simple: pour one to two tablespoons of rice into three glasses of water and cook until a sticky mass is obtained. Put some turmeric and any sweetener in it, this will add both taste and benefit. Take in the morning on an empty stomach or in the afternoon 30-40 minutes before meals.

What else can help

  • Spray with sea water. Salt water perfectly cleanses the nose of pollen and city dust, which stagnates in the nose and causes inflammation of the mucous membrane.
  • Natural Pharmacy. If you don’t have herbal sensitivities, try essential oils. Eucalyptus, verbena, sage, thyme soothe inflammation. Peppermint, tea tree and lavender relieve swelling and spasms. Oils can be inhaled by holding the bottle up to the nose.
  • Acupuncture. The technique is especially effective for the treatment of chronic allergic rhinitis. Twelve sessions during the active flowering period relieve most of the symptoms.
  • Travel to other lands. The most effective way to avoid allergies is to go somewhere where there are no plants that cause irritation. If, of course, you have such an opportunity.
