Raspberries “Balsam” cannot be called particularly famous or popular. But this variety is also worthy of attention, because the plant is quite unpretentious and gives high yields with practically no participation. At the same time, the culture perfectly tolerates both frost and dry weather.

The plant is a sprawling erect bush with a height of 150-180 cm. The shoots of the culture are brown, covered with a waxy bloom. The number of thorns on the branches is average. They are small in size and quite tough.

The berries of the variety are large in size. Their weight varies from 2,5 to 3,4 grams. The shape is regular conical, the color is bright scarlet, when the berries are fully ripe, it can turn dark purple. They are easily separated from the stalk and have an average number of seeds. The taste is moderately sweet, with a slight sourness. The aroma of the fruit is pronounced, reminiscent of the smell of wild berries. The drupe of the plant is tightly bound. Thanks to this, the berries practically do not fall off even when fully ripe.

Description of the advantages and disadvantages of the raspberry variety “Balsam”

The main advantage of this variety is its simplicity. In order for raspberries to feel good and give a high yield, it is enough to carry out simple agrotechnical measures: watering, pruning, periodic feeding. With minimal maintenance, the plant gives a fairly high yield. During the season, up to 2,5-2,8 kg of berries can be harvested from one bush. At the same time, the fruiting of the culture is friendly.

The berries tolerate transportation well and retain their presentation for a long time. But, unfortunately, the fruits are not distinguished by an exquisite taste, therefore “Balsam” should not be grown on an industrial scale for sale

Another advantage of the variety is the ease of crop propagation. Raspberries can be grown by cuttings, dividing a bush, or transplanting offspring. In addition, “Balsam” is practically immune to most diseases and pests and tolerates both hot and frosty weather. Although the variety was sectioned for the middle lane, it takes root well in regions with a cold climate.

Raspberry “Balsam” will be an excellent choice for those gardeners who grow berries for their own needs. It is quite easy to care for the variety, while it constantly gives high yields.
