Why this game?
Around 3 years old, the child begins to mentally elaborate a lot of things that he will be able to stage. So when he plays the dinette he develop his imagination. By inventing scenarios very close to reality, he awakens to life outside and enriches his vocabulary.
How do we play ?
The child goes reproduce what he sees : set the table, place the guests (stuffed animals, parents…). You can play with it, but let it take initiatives. Help him invent the beginning of the story, little by little he will add his lines. He will feel like the main character, it’s gratifying !
Vary the pleasures!
Another possibility: the merchant’s game. It is also an imitation game that is a hit with the little ones. The advantage is to be able handle a bunch of different props like the grown-ups. So do not hesitate to provide them with fake fruits and vegetables, real boxes of small corn-flakes, fake cheese, etc. He will love it play the one who sells and buys by giving (you) the answer!
