Plant protection products from pests
Plant protection products from adverse factors are an integral part of planting care. For the treatment and protection of crops from a variety of diseases and harmful insects, there are many specialized biological and chemical preparations.
Variety of plant protection chemicals
Chemicals that protect plantings from negative external influences are called pesticides. They differ in chemical composition, orientation and mode of action, toxicity and impact on the environment.
The main classification of pesticides:
- By chemical composition: organic, inorganic, biogenic.
- By area of use: the fight against harmful insects – insecticides; the fight against ticks – acaricides; rodent control – rodenticides; destruction of fungi – antiseptic drugs; destruction of bacteria – bactericidal agents; weed control – herbicides and arboricides.
- By the method of exposure: contact – destroy pests by direct contact; systemic – destroy pests when they enter the body with food.
- By toxicity: potent, high / medium / low toxic, dusts, powder, granules, solutions, emulsions.
Carefully selected preparations for a particular case will not only quickly rid the plantings of diseases, weeds and pests, but also reduce the risk of their reappearance. When choosing protective equipment, it is necessary to follow the instructions for use and strictly observe the safety rules when using them.
Chemicals for effective protection of plants from pests
Harmful insects, their laid eggs or larvae are destroyed by insecticide preparations. For each specific case, for each type of plant and insect, there are different types of preparations. They are conventionally divided into the following groups:
- Contact. This type of chemical preparations destroys pests by direct contact with the surface of its body. These include “Tsitkor”, “Mikron”, “Ripkord”, “Aktellik”.
- Intestinal. This type of toxic chemical begins its action by entering directly into the digestive system of the pest with food. This includes “Chlorofos”, “Foksim”, “Fozalan”.
- Systemic. These preparations impregnate the treated plant and further destroy the insects that eat the poisoned plant. The most effective chemicals in this group are “Antio”, “Belt”, “Aktara”.
- Group method of exposure. Some drugs can enter the pest’s body in several ways. An example is Mospilan.
- Fumigants. They act directly on the respiratory system of the harmful insect. Dispersed in the air. Presented in the form of aerosols or smoke bombs. Effective are “Bromomethyl”, “Fostoxin”, “Ethylene oxide”.
When choosing a specific chemical, attention should be paid to such characteristics as the spectrum of damage. Some agents act selectively, on one type of harmful insects, while others differ in a continuous spectrum and destroy several types of pests at once.
The variety of protective insecticides allows you to easily and quickly destroy any type of harmful insects and provide subsequent protection from them. It is only important to approach the issue of choice with all responsibility and choose the right tool.
