People at risk, risk factors and prevention of chronic fatigue syndrome (myalgic encephalomyelitis)
People at risk
- The women are 2 to 4 times more likely to suffer from it than men.
- This syndrome is more common between 20 years and 40 years, but can affect any age group.
Risk factors
While physicians can sometimes identify events that may have participated in the disease outbreak (viral infection, physical or psychological stress, etc.), the uncertainty that surrounds it prevents it from presenting specific risk factors.
Prevention
Can we prevent? |
Unfortunately, as long as the causes of this chronic disease remain unknown, there is no way to prevent it. According to the French Association for Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia Syndrome5, many people are unaware that they are in pain and therefore do nothing to cure themselves. By remaining attentive to his general state of health, we can however speed up the diagnosis and benefit more quickly from therapeutic management. |
