Osteria Francescana the best restaurant of the year

On June 13, the 50 Best Restaurants in the World gala was held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York, organized by the British magazine Restaurant.

Osteria Francescana He was a serious candidate and this has been corroborated in the final vote of the event, raising the Italian restaurant to the No. 1 of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

Massimo Bottura  has taken over from the Roca brothers, thus raising his restaurant to the Olympus of culinary elaboration, highlighting its peculiar way of working with traditional Italian ingredients.

This is the first time he has traveled to another country, and from now on London will not be the only venue, this year he crossed the ocean and the next edition will travel to the antipodes to be held in Australia.

Our participation has also been awarded, ranking 7 Spanish Restaurants among the 50 winners, El Celler de Can Roca 2nd, Mugaritz 7th, El Asador Etxebarri 10th, Azurmendi 16th, Arzak 21st, Tickets 29th or Quique Dacosta 49th.

A great showcase for restaurants

The enthusiasm and expectation of the world of gastronomy is spectacular in the days before and after the gala, not only because of the final deliberation of the jury, but also because of the great diffusion that the event has, even much more than the magazine itself, as for the Chefs and restaurants they run.

It is not the best assessment, much less the most transparent due to the opacity of the votes, but it is a benchmark of culinary excellence at the same level as the Michelin guide, the Repsol guide or the Trip Advisor ratings, as recommendation tools.

To reach the final decision of this year’s edition, the 972 members of the Diners Club Academy gave their votes to the outstanding culinary temples that were competing for the award of the best restaurant of 2016, who shared the limelight with other winners, previously announced as Alain Passard, Trajectory Awardthe Dominique crenn Veuve de Clicquot Award to the best female chef in the world.

It is worth remembering all those who were part of the prestigious rankisng in previous years to be able to highlight the enormous potential of our restaurants in the world gastronomic plane.
