Opinion: cereals will disappear in Ukraine, muesli and flakes are in trend

With regard to cereals, Ukraine will follow the same path as Europe: consumers prefer products of deeper processing, fast food: muesli, snacks, sticks, balls. Often this is what is then poured over with milk. This opinion about the groats market in Ukraine was shared by Alexander Tomenko, deputy director of the Agrofirm “Pole” (Cherkassy), in an interview with AgroPortal.ua.

Thus, Alexander believes that Ukraine has already begun to consume less cereals and the demand for them will continue to decline annually by 2-3%. “We, too, will gradually give up cereals,” Tomenko noted and added that the largest consumers of cereals are now pensioners, because these products are affordable.

Along with the fact that traditional cereals are losing ground, the range of cereals has expanded due to cereals that are new to the Ukrainian market. “In large supermarkets, the segment of cereals has been replenished with new types. From bulgur and couscous to more exotic chia and quinoa. If 5-10 years ago it was possible to buy peas in stores in the segment of legumes, now the assortment has been replenished with such products as lentils, chickpeas, mung bean, ”said Alexander Tomenko. And he also noted that traditional wheat cereals are replacing cereals from durum wheat (durum).

We will remind, earlier we told that what valuable are those people who do not eat porridge lose, and also advised which 7 cereals will benefit more than others.
