The Omikron variant is a new variant of the SARS-CoV-11 coronavirus detected on November 2 in Botswana. The omicron is also referred to as variant B.1.1.529, and was originally also referred to as Nu strain.

The detection of this variant of the coronavirus alarmed the scientific world as a surprisingly high number of mutations were identified in the virus protein. Additionally, the nature of the changes in the Omikron variant showed some similarities to those observed in the Delta variant. The first reports of symptoms accompanying infection with the Omikron variant concern the condition of young people. Symptoms such as severe fatigue, body aches, slight headaches and a scratchy throat were observed. These are atypical symptoms that differ from those associated with other variants of the coronavirus, including the Delta variant.

The course of the disease after infection with the Omikron variant of the coronavirus in the young is light, and the patients do not require hospitalization – this is indicated by the initial analyzes of the patients’ health.
