Minimum childcare allowance: size, payment, amount

Minimum childcare allowance: size, payment, amount

The minimum allowance for the care of a child up to one and a half years is assigned to unemployed mothers, as well as employed women, whose salary does not reach the established value. This material assistance from the state is indexed annually and increases as the living wage rises.

How the amount of the benefit is calculated

According to the legislation, in 2017, payments amount to 40% of a woman’s salary. That is, to understand how much benefit you are entitled to, divide your average monthly earnings by 100 and multiply by 40. This will be the amount of your monthly benefit.

The amount of the minimum childcare allowance is calculated from the subsistence level.

But if your salary is below the minimum or you were unemployed before pregnancy, then you will be charged:

  • For the first baby – 3 rubles.
  • For the second and all subsequent ones – 6 131r.

This financial assistance will be provided until the baby turns one and a half years old. In the future, an unemployed mother can only count on monthly compensation payments in the amount of 50 rubles, which can be received up to the age of 3. At the same time, assistance can be issued not only for the mother, but also for other relatives looking after the child. But in any case, unemployed parents can apply for this assistance if they do not receive assistance due to unemployment.

An employed mother for the appointment of a care allowance should contact her place of work and write a statement, a sample of which will be provided by the organization itself. In addition, you must have the following with you:

  • birth certificate of the child, as well as documents of previous children, if any;
  • a certificate from the place of work of the second parent stating that he does not receive such assistance;
  • a statement on the replacement of years, if necessary.

If a woman has changed employers in the last two years, then she needs to bring confirmation that the same benefit was not assigned elsewhere. In addition, she will need a certificate of income from a previous employer.

An unemployed mother must contact the nearest multifunctional center or social protection authorities to receive benefits.

All women, regardless of status and income, have the right to receive childcare benefits for a child under the age of one and a half years. Its amount depends on the mother’s salary, but if it is small and does not reach the subsistence level, then the minimum material assistance will be assigned, the amount of which is indexed.
