Mini facelift: what are the differences with the facelift?

A cosmetic surgery operation that is less burdensome than a complete cervico-facial lift, the mini-facial lift, also called soft lift, offers a more targeted tensioning of certain areas of the face.

What is the mini facial lifting?

Cosmetic surgeons also call it the mini-lift, the soft lift or the French lift, a nod to the result often more natural than with a full cervico-facial lift. The mini-facelift is a less cumbersome operation that can even be performed under local anesthesia for those who wish. It preserves the expression of the face and avoids a tension effect.

With the partial facelift, only certain areas are targeted and lifted by the cosmetic surgeon, which makes it possible to peel less skin and therefore reduce the postoperative consequences.

How is the operation going?

The cosmetic surgeon targets sagging tissue to correct sagging skin. Small incisions are made in the hair and / or around the ears, then tissue detachment is made in the treated area.

The frontal facelifts

It corrects sagging forehead and eyebrows. The forehead lift is now tending to be replaced by the injection of botulinum toxin. A non-invasive practice but whose durability does not exceed 12 to 18 months on average.

The temporal lifting

It is performed with the aim of raising the tail of the eyebrow and correcting a slightly drooping eyelid by reducing excess skin.

Neck lift

It is most often performed in addition to a facelift in order to redraw the oval of the face and correct sagging skin.

Le lifting jugal

The jugal lifting acts mainly on the lower part of the face by working on the tissues of the jowls or the nasolabial folds.

Where are the mini facelifts going?

It is difficult to associate an operation of cosmetic surgery with an age so much the technique used depends on the motivation, the complexes and the quality of the skin of each one. However, specialists believe that the mini-facelift is performed on people 45 years of age or younger.

“The classic facelift is more often requested from the fifties, an age when the oval of the face becomes less clear. From the age of sixty, we rarely talk about a mini-facelift, the sagging skin becoming more important ”, decrypts on his official website Dr. David Picovski, cosmetic and plastic surgeon in Paris.

The mini-lift is often associated with acts of aesthetic medicine in order to optimize the result and prevent the aging of areas that have not been targeted by the operation.

What are the advantages of the mini-lift?

The intervention is shorter since it lasts about 1 hour while a full facelift usually lasts 2 hours. The mini-lift can also be performed under local anesthesia for people who do not want general anesthesia.

The cosmetic surgeon also peels less skin. The postoperative effects are therefore less severe and the edema, hematomas and sensitivity disorders are lighter.

The risks of a “frozen” result are less since this intervention only targets a few areas and not the entire face.

How much does a mini facelift cost?

A first consultation with the cosmetic surgeon is necessary to explain the course of the operation, the post-operative consequences and the risks. A detailed estimate will be given at the end of this meeting.

The prices for a mini facelift vary between 4000 and 5 €. The cost of the operation includes the fees of the surgeon, those of the anesthesiologist as well as the costs of the clinic.

Considered as a purely cosmetic operation, the facelift is not covered by the health insurance fund.
