Men with a scar on their face are more attractive

A new scientific study by British psychologists has confirmed that facial scars really adorn men, making them 6% more attractive. Small facial injuries are attractive to women looking for short-term relationships, although this does not add points to them as potential spouses.

The phenomenon of “scar charm” on the face was investigated by psychologists from the universities of Liverpool and Stirling. They interviewed 115 women and 64 men. The respondents were asked to rate the attractiveness of eight strangers from their photographs. Half of the respondents were offered real photos, the other half – pictures edited on a computer with scars.

If the answers of men were practically the same, then among women men with scars were on average more popular by almost 6%. For each photo, the respondents were asked their opinion on the cause of the scar: a fight, an accident, or an illness. It is noteworthy that women were more often attributed to accidental scars, and men – of violent origin.
