– How I did not like experiments with manicure, and even a pastel blue shade of nails came to my nails after 3 months of suffering “to do – not to do”. But since the matte finish is fashionable and beautiful, I had to leave the comfort zone, give up gel polish for a week and do a matte manicure.

Expectations: in my childhood, about 15 years ago, occasionally matte, glow-in-the-dark and magnetic varnishes appeared on store shelves. But the choice in shades was small: most often they offered acid colors, which, as you know, are not allowed to be worn at school. I like the fact that to create a matte manicure, you don’t need to buy 10 shades of new varnishes, just buy a top and apply it to your favorite product.

Reality: the decision to test the tool was spontaneous. The polish sat on my dresser for almost a month, until my gel-coated manicure came to an end, and there was no time for a salon right now. I applied a beige varnish and covered it with a matte top. The first plus – the coating dried up in just a minute! This is speed! Secondly, instead of 2 days, the varnish lasted almost a week. Of course, this is not the best result for some, but it inspired me.

How quickly it dries: literally a minute, and the varnish dries completely.

Evaluation: 10 out of 10 points. If you are looking for a matte finish, I would gladly recommend Chanel’s LE TOP COAT VELVET.

– Essie nail polishes are well known to me and very much loved by me. But about their top coatings, to my great shame, I could not say anything until recently. To be honest, I am usually too lazy to put some additional layers on my nails and limit myself to two layers of varnish. The fact that in nature there is also a topcoat with a matte effect, I heard for the first time from our beauty editor before starting this testing – yes, in terms of things for manicure, I am a complete layman. I will improve!

Expectations: the product description turned out to be rather austere. The manufacturer promises that the top coat instantly transforms a glossy varnish of any shade into a matte finish. In general, I don’t need more. Well, it is also important that the coating lays down evenly, is conveniently applied and dries quickly.

Reality: I applied Matte About You almost immediately after finishing my manicure. I just waited for the top layer to dry. Using the product turned out to be comfortable and went like clockwork – however, this applies to all Essie varnishes. I liked the result: the nails became matte, and the manicure acquired some special charm. True, the matting effect faded a little the next day. Especially oil-containing products, hand cream, for example, are harmful to him.

How quickly it dries: The matte finish dried very quickly, in about two minutes, I guess. And this even despite the fact that I applied it with a rather thick layer.

Evaluation: 10 out of 10. Excellent finish that prolongs the durability of the varnish.

– A couple of years ago I became a fan of wearing colored nails and now I feel “naked” when there is no polish on my nails. Shellac? No, only on long trips or on holidays. I like to paint my own nails! A week ago, I complained to my friends that the purchased Dior varnish began to peel off from the ends almost the next day after staining. To which they asked if I was using the top coating, and when they heard a negative answer, they lamented that there was nothing to be indignant about, they say, a rare varnish without such “support” will last a long time. Although I should note that I have varnishes of not the most expensive cosmetic brands that behave perfectly without additional funds … In general, what I mean – how come it was necessary to test top coatings for Wday! I’m already silent about the fact that I didn’t even know that there are such cunning matte coatings. Interest has doubled!

Expectation: Well, I thought, finally, I will have a 2-in-1 product: it will fix the varnish and add variety to the boring palette. Moreover, from such a serious brand as OPI

Reality: for testing, I chose an inexpensive but proven durability varnish, as I had to spend a weekend full of volleyball training. Needless to say, he most often suffers from close contact with the ball … Yes, yes, they are nails.

So, I waited until the layer of varnish dries up, and started. It’s funny that when applied, the top coat is completely transparent, and only after a few seconds, when it dries, this matte coating appears. This is as funny as it is inconvenient. Because staining flaws are visible when nothing can be changed. The photo shows how unevenly the coating lay. I liked the dull feature! I’ll have to experiment and try to draw something on their nails – stripes, dots, edges …

And now about the disappointment. OPI’s top matte finish is purely for beauty. In no way did it cure the varnish. Alas. By the end of the day, tiny chips appeared – despite the fact that I had not even had time to even get to workout, did not wash the dishes and generally did not “load” them with anything. The photo shows how the nails became after one volleyball workout. After all three, the nails turned to horror – a beautiful matte varnish shamelessly chipped off the tips of the nails.

How quickly it dries: dries quickly, there are no complaints.

Evaluation: 5 out of 10. You say top coatings set the varnish? Probably, but not this one. But it mattes beautifully. That’s all.

– I have never done myself a matte manicure before. I must say, I really liked the experiment. In my opinion, varnishes of calm tones look beautiful. The first time I applied a matte top on red varnish, nothing happened, but it looks much better on beige.

Expectations: I expected absolutely nothing before using it. Because I have never used such means before. In my cosmetic bag there is only the usual drying, and that’s it. I do not like to do my own manicure. In many cases I can call myself neat, but not with regard to nails. While I wait for the varnish to dry, two or even three nails will definitely suffer. Well, I don’t have the patience to sit still and not touch anything for at least 10 minutes.

Reality: All sorts of tops and dryers fly away at a cosmic speed, so I am constantly updating my stocks. The MAC Leather Topcoat is a real discovery! If you do your manicure 15 minutes before going to bed, then this coating is for you. With it, your nails will dry in a few seconds, and in the morning – no patterns from the printed sheet. I think you understand my admiration if your life is scheduled by the minute and there is always no time for a manicure.

Evaluation: at least 10 points for MAC Leather Topcoat.

Expectations: in the annotation to the coating it is said that it creates a perfect matte and velvety coating with a “soft touch” effect, and also forms a film on the varnish surface that protects against chips and cracks. All this I needed and needed!

Reality: applied Color-Matt, Malava a couple of minutes after base and regular beige varnish. At first, the coating shone on the nails, which alarmed me a little, but after a minute it gave the same matte tone. And also the nails became smooth and pleasant to the touch, as after paraffin therapy.

For the sake of experiment, I decided to apply a second layer of coating on one nail, but then disappointment awaited: irregularities appeared. But the nails, covered with one layer, looked the way they should.

The Malava manicure lasted three days. True, these days I, like Cinderella, washed dishes and soap floors … Perhaps, without household worries, the varnish would have lasted longer.

How quickly it dries: very fast! Within a minute after application, I could return to normal business.

Expectations: Manufacturers of Orly’s “Matte Top” coating report that their product gives manicure a matte satin effect. It reduces the chance of polish chipping and is ideal for nail designs that combine matte and shiny areas.

Reality: I apply the product, according to the instructions on the package, on the painted nails in an even layer. I wait a few minutes and … The surface of the nails takes on a pronounced glossy appearance. Where is the matting effect? To achieve the desired result, I reapply the product. The color is gradually changing, but in my opinion it is still not matte enough.

How quickly it dries: A very long time. The procedure was done before going to bed, so I had to wait at least 40 minutes. But this was not enough. In the morning I woke up with traces of sheets on my nails. That’s how I made up …

But the coating passed the dishwashing test with success. Three times the next day after staining and a few more subsequent days. Still, the result disappointed me a little.

Rating: 4 of 10 points.

Expectations: Manufacturers claim that the Faby coating has an exclusive formula that gives nails a healthy, laconic look. The product protects the varnish from fading and prolongs the life of the manicure.

Reality: I apply regular varnish to my nails, then cover with the first coat of Faby coating. The varnish acquires a matte shade on the eyes and intensifies after reapplication.

How quickly it dries: The product hardens within 15 minutes (an excellent result, which not every nail product can demonstrate!) And brilliantly copes with the “pillow test” – in the morning I do not find sheet prints on my nails.

However, the cover still has a small minus. After several water treatments, cracks appear on the nails. There is only one way out – do not wash the dishes! Which, in general, is correct if the fingers are “manicured”.

Rating: 8 of 10 points. A manicure will last a long time if you abandon the actions associated with water.
