Low-growing apple trees: the best varieties

Low-growing apple trees, or dwarf ones, are the most suitable option for small garden areas. These apple trees are distinguished by a variety of varieties, among which there are sweet, sour and juicy varieties.

The dwarf ones include apple trees, the height of which does not exceed 4 m.

Low-growing apple trees give a bountiful harvest

The following varieties are distinguished by good fruiting, ease of cultivation and frost resistance:

  • Silver Hoof. Its fruits weigh about 80 g. You can store such an apple for a month;
  • “People’s”. A golden yellow apple of this variety weighs about 115 g. It is stored for 4 months;
  • “Delight” bears fruit with yellow-green apples weighing up to 120 g. They can be stored for no more than 2,5 months;
  • “Gornoaltayskoye” gives small, juicy fruits, deep red, weighing up to 30 g;
  • “Hybrid-40” is distinguished by large yellow-green apples, which are stored for only 2 weeks;
  • “Wonderful”. Reaches 200 g, has a yellow-green color with a blush. The shelf life of a ripe fruit is no more than a month.

Fruiting of these varieties occurs in August, 3-4 years after planting. “Silver Hoof”, “Narodnoye” and “Uslada” have a sweet taste, and “Gornoaltayskoye”, “Hybrid-40” and “Chudnoe” are sweet and sour.

The best low-growing apple trees

The best apple trees are those that are not afraid of frost or drought, are resistant to pests and diseases, are unpretentious in care, have a high yield and a long shelf life. These include the following types:

  • “Bratchud” or “Brother of the Wonderful”. This variety can be grown in regions with any climatic conditions. It bears fruits weighing up to 160 g, which are pleasant to the taste, despite the fact that they are not too juicy. You can store them for 140 days;
  • “Carpet” produces a crop weighing up to 200 g. The apples are low-juicy, sweet and sour and very fragrant. Shelf life – 2 months;
  • “Legend” pampers with juicy and fragrant apples weighing up to 200 g. They can be stored for 3 months;
  • “Low-growing” apple – juicy and sweet and sour, weighs 150 g, and is stored for 5 months;
  • “Snowdrop”. Apples with a maximum weight of up to 300 g will not spoil for 4 months;
  • “Grounded”. The fruits of this variety are juicy, sweet and sour, weighing about 100 g. They will remain fresh for at least 2 months.

These apple trees bear ruddy, light yellow fruits in the 4th year after planting. Ripe crops can be harvested from September to October.
