Kitchen cabinet decoration

The wardrobe bought from IKEA has found a second life. The decorators stenciled it. Pink, purple and brown are used here in small quantities, at the level of nuance.

The material was prepared by Marina Shvechkova. Photo: Viktor Chernyshov.

Authors of the project: Irina Tatarinkova и Tatiana Shavlak (“Group 2”).

Photo 1. The surface of the cabinet is pre-sanded and primed. Then the dark chocolate Dulux water-based paint is applied.

Photo 2. After the paint has dried, some parts of the cabinet are rubbed with wax. This is necessary to create the aging effect.

Photo 3. Using a roller, the surface is covered with a basic pale pink paint and allowed to dry.

Photo 4, 5. Mark the location of the ornament on the doors with a pencil. Apply it using a stencil and a sponge soaked in paint.

Photo 6. The painting is allowed to dry, after which the contour errors are corrected with a thin kolinsky brush.

Photo 7. Individual parts of the curls of the ornament are drawn using gray and gold acrylic paint.

Photo 8. With fine sandpaper, sand those areas that were previously rubbed with wax.

Photo 9. And the last stage: the entire surface of the cabinet is covered with acrylic varnish using a foam roller. Let it dry and apply another coat of varnish.

The history of the creation of this interior can be found in the article “Ambulance”.
