Where does a future physician need to undergo an internship in order to gain good knowledge and skills?
Thanks to Dr. Bykov from the series Interns, we also saw the other side of the medal of Russian medicine. We look with laughter and tears. And more and more often the thought comes to mind: where can you get quality medical care? Where are these wonderful hospitals? Where are these funny nurses and good-natured doctors?
If you have a medical student in your family, you can hope that soon you personally will have better medical care than others. But in order for a medical student to turn out to be a Doctor with a capital letter, you need, of course, to invest a lot of time and effort. And sometimes – to look at the future of a young doctor from a different, unusual for Russian reality side. For example, send a medical student to practice in well-known world clinics, where the best luminaries of medicine, Nobel scholarship holders work today. These clinics are rapidly developing unique technologies and services, and this is associated with large ongoing investments. Such experience will be useful and necessary for the motivated student.
In Russia, the institute of mentoring today, we admit, is experiencing difficult times: today doctors are 100 percent loaded with their direct responsibilities, forced to take several rates and “chronically” on duty in order to feed their families. Today, many medical students have the opportunity to undergo practical training in the best foreign clinics, to get acquainted there with the latest technologies, which we have so far only found in clinics in Moscow and St. Petersburg. This is where there is a chance to gain real experience. How to organize this process, tells Director of LLC “Steps” Elena Ryabusheva.
Any senior student from the 3rd year. There are an average of 10-15 people in a group, so it is more budgetary for students. The duration of the internship is negotiated individually, on average – from two weeks. As a rule, students in these courses are determined with a future specialty. And it is very important to see for yourself, to try everything new in medicine, to make it easier to make your choice.
First of all, acquaintance with the highly organized health care system in Germany, EU countries, Turkey, sightseeing tours of the departments of the clinic with a targeted acquaintance with operating rooms, diagnostic equipment, technologies. And, for example, Germany in the same price includes German courses, including medical terminology.
The program includes visits to some departments of the university clinic, as well as private practices and regional clinics, where students will be presented with the basic concept of the work of departments and foreign specialists. They will see the work of a specialist directly on the latest equipment with the participation of modern technologies. Today, foreign clinics are actively introducing know-how of medicine, advanced experience, because foreign medicine, for the most part, has a non-state source of funding – from business structures. This private sector of foreign medicine with a multi-million dollar investment is an active incentive for the development of business – clinics.
So, for example, you will not see Da Vinci robotic surgery in Volgograd yet, and it will be useful for a future doctor to grow professionally and broaden his horizons.
To undergo an internship in the forefront of world medicine is also a very effective investment in your professional future.
After completing the internship, you are given certificates of its completion. But the main thing is not paper, but invaluable knowledge gained in the world’s best clinics. All this will give an active impetus to your medical career anywhere in Russia, the doors of the most prestigious Russian clinics will open for you. Now is such a time – you cannot invest in yourself, no one will be interested in you. In general, any Russian medical institution will be flattering to have a specialist who has completed an internship abroad.
Personal experience of a Volgograd medical student

This summer Nikita Volkov, a 4th year student at the Volgograd Medical University, did an internship at the Marmara University Hospital in Turkey.
“To put it in one sentence, I found myself in a five-star clinic, where everyone is interested in the trainee gaining new knowledge and skills,” said Nikita. – That’s what surprised me.
First, the mentality of doctors in the clinic: here everyone wants to give you, a novice and a trainee, even if from a distant country, their knowledge. In Russia, alas, doctors do not want to bother with trainees at all: we usually stand in a corner somewhere. In Turkey, if senior mentors see that you really want to learn, show interest, they, not sparing their time, answer all questions, try to take you to the operation. And even … to allow assisting. For Russia, it is nonsense that I, a 4th year student, was an assistant. And without real practice it is impossible to become a good doctor.
Secondly, all Turkish clinics are equipped with the most modern equipment, they work here according to the American system, using American standards that are quoted throughout the world.
Thirdly, the level of equipment of clinics is space, it is useful for a young specialist to get acquainted with all the achievements of world medicine. But I will note that all clinics receive worthy government support. By the way, in the center where I did my internship was the President of Turkey; By this I want to say that there are no elite or non-elite clinics here – everything here is of a decent level!
Fourth, there is a doctor here, and any other medical worker, like a hero, patients look at you with a breath, follow all your recommendations. And here in Russia everyone is afraid of students …
And most importantly, this practice has replaced for me, in terms of the amount of knowledge I acquired, perhaps a year of study at a university.

The most famous university hospital in all of Europe, of great historical and practical importance for Berlin. In 2010, the clinic swept aside its 300th anniversary and expanded with two universities. This allowed her to combine the professional skills of specialists from two of the best German universities. Today the clinic can boast of high medical service. For example, half of the German Nobel Prize Fellows in Medicine work in this particular clinic.
