Climate is the stable weather pattern characteristic of a given geographic area. Or, to put it simply, climate is the weather we are used to at certain times of the year. Not only people, but all inhabitants of a particular habitat: birds, animals, plants, insects. Climate change has negative consequences for the entire planet.
The seriousness of this problem forces the entire scientific world to talk about it. But it is not enough to know about the problem, it is important to solve it. Therefore, every year in the spring International Climate Day is celebrated, in 2023 dozens of countries around the world will join the holiday.

International Climate Day 2023 will be celebrated 15 May. The date is fixed and does not change from year to year.
This day cannot be considered a holiday in full, it is dedicated not to celebrations, but to enlightenment. He calls on all the inhabitants of the planet to pay attention to the importance of the problem of climate change.

Preservation of the climate is one of the greatest problems facing humanity today. Global warming, natural disasters, changing weather conditions on the planet – all this leads to a deterioration of the Earth’s climate and, as a result, has a negative impact on the food, life and property security of people, the state of natural resources and the balanced development of states.
Among the main problems that lead to irreversible climate change on the planet is an increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
The history of the holiday began with fears and warnings from meteorologists. In 1992, the Earth Summit was held in Rio de Janeiro, which was attended by representatives of 180 states, and within its framework the UN Framework Convention was adopted. It was based on earlier declarations and protocols that regulated the state of the ozone layer.
The convention contains the basic rules by which it was decided to protect the environment from human impact. Subsequently, other important documents were signed, designed to stabilize the climate on the planet.
Currently, more than 11 scientists from around the world have signed the Global Scientists’ Climate Emergency Alert.
However, global climate change on Earth is not new. The history of our planet has more than one period of advance and retreat of ice. However, ancient evidence found in oceanic, glacial and lava deposits suggests that such shifts in climate are happening much faster today than before.

On this day, all those who are not indifferent can contribute to the fight against climate change. This is easy to do even at your own, individual level: you can take part in a community work day, plant trees, shrubs, collect garbage, and so on.
On International Climate Day, environmental organizations hold conferences, seminars, and lectures on combating climate change. Activists arrange flash mobs and actions, with the help of which they call not only ordinary people, but also companies and the state to make efforts to combat climate change.
There are many arguments for and against the reality of climate change, but perhaps everyone has experienced unfamiliar weather over the past decade. Changes in climate lead to abnormal disasters – drought, fires, floods, earthquakes. And it’s only a matter of time before these changes affect every person on Earth personally. Therefore, it is important that we make our contribution to improving the environmental situation and minimize our harm to the environment.
