If sick men complain more, it’s because of their testosterone!

Let’s stop making fun of them. A study, carried out by Dr Kyle Sue, professor at the University of Newfoundland, Canada, and the results of which appeared in the British newspaper ‘The Guardian’, explains why men complain more as soon as they have a little health concern.

A weaker immune system

The study shows that testosteronemen weaken their immune system. So they would be more receptive to viruses lying around. This would make it easier for them to catch colds, but they would also be more often affected by influenza or mononucleosis

When they are sick, they would have more trouble regulating their temperature, and their fever would be higher. They would take longer to recover.

For their part, the women would more protected thanks to their sex hormones. estrogenwould have a protective effect superior to testosterone. Female hormones, according to some studies, even protect women from diseases during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Yet over the course of a year, men are sick on average five timess, against seven times for women.
