German specialists in 1926 invented the world’s first intrauterine device. It consisted of silkworm threads and silver rings. This spiral was invented by the German scientist Ernest Grafenberd, but it was not until 1960 that the American Sanitary Inspection Agency approved this method for use. Such is the long way.

Before getting on the shelves, condoms undergo a special serious test. First of all, 18 liters of air are pumped into each contraceptive, then blown off and filled with water.

After a few minutes, a water ball is rolled over special paper and the presence of leaks is checked. And if in a batch of one hundred pieces more than four turn out to be defective, then the entire batch is destroyed. This is such a difficult path.

Progress has come to the use of tampons during menstruation, and then Chinese women came up with the idea of ​​inserting various objects into the cervix. The action really helped the girls avoid unwanted pregnancies, but also attracted them to injuries and infections, including infertility.

Cloth, paper and sea sponge

African women, too, were as sophisticated as they could. Chopped grass and pieces of tissue were used as an intrauterine contraceptive. Japanese geisha chose bamboo paper for such purposes.

There were also residents of Ancient Greece who preferred a sea sponge dipped in lemon juice or vinegar. The methods are effective, but very traumatic.

Everyone has heard about the first pig gut condom. The tool was invented in the 1640s. But initially it was created to protect not from unwanted pregnancy, but from syphilis.

The tool has become very fashionable, but it was not possible to find it in any pharmacy and, of course, for a tidy sum. As a result, the men used each contraceptive several times.

Condoms for babies were recently released in Switzerland. They were created for adolescents who cannot fully protect themselves due to the inappropriate size.

About two years ago, one of America’s largest condom empires announced it was recruiting volunteers to test its latest products. The testers received a monetary reward and a year’s supply of these same contraceptives!

Of course, there were many who wanted to. Some even, according to rumors, even had to refuse.

Many women are afraid of hormone pills because they grow facial hair. Manufacturers of COCs (combined oral contraceptives) do not deny: indeed, the first generations of pills promoted hair growth.

But modern COCs are made in such a way that, on the contrary, they prevent the rapid growth of hair, and epilation has to be done much less often.
