How to properly dry plums at home, in the oven

Sweet prunes are loved by adults and children. Due to its excellent taste and pleasant aroma, dried fruit is used for preparing compotes, desserts, baked goods and salads. Having learned how to dry plums at home, you can prepare a treat yourself.

Knowing how to dry plums, you can make a healthy dried fruit

You need to choose ripe, fleshy and strong plums with a whole skin. The stalks must be removed without fail.

  • It is better to cut large plums into two parts and cut out a pit. This will dry them out faster.
  • Although most people like pitted prunes, small fruits dried whole hold more nutrients. In order for moisture to evaporate, whole plums must be pre-blanched. Within 2 minutes, you need to boil the fruits in a soda solution: take 2 teaspoons of soda per liter of water. The appearance of a mesh of shallow cracks on the skin indicates that the procedure was carried out correctly. Finally, rinse the fruit with cold water and dry with a towel.

After all the fruits are prepared, you can start drying.

How to properly dry plums in an electric dryer

The technology is simple. Includes the following steps:

  • fruits must be laid out on pallets and heated for 3,5 hours at a temperature of 50 degrees;
  • then the fruit must be cooled. For this, the baking sheets must be removed from the device for several hours;
  • then load the dryer again and raise the temperature to 65 degrees. Dry for another 4-6 hours;
  • cool the plums again. Then increase the temperature to 70 degrees and cook for another 6 hours.

During drying, it is advisable to change the pallets in places every hour.

How to dry plums in the oven and microwave

If there is no electric dryer, then you can dry the fruits in the oven. Place the fruit, cut side up, on a parchment-lined baking sheet. The process consists of several stages:

  • place the baking sheet for 5 hours in an oven preheated to 50 degrees;
  • remove the baking sheet and cool the plums;
  • return the fruits to the oven and increase the heating power to 70 degrees.

After an hour and a half, the prunes can be taken out.

Plums can also be dried successfully in the microwave. At the same time, the process is significantly accelerated. It looks like this:

  • put plums on a platter and cook in a microwave oven at a power of 250-300 W for several minutes;
  • repeat the heating of the drain several more times, checking the readiness. It is important to be careful not to char the fruit.

Signs of readiness of prunes: the berries become soft, elastic, when pressed, no juice is released.
