If you know how to care for your laminate flooring, this coating will last a long time and will not cause problems. Why are the owners of such a beautiful and environmentally friendly floor claiming? Most often they are associated with a loss of visual appeal, damage to laminated planks, and the appearance of cracks caused by operating errors.
How to properly care for your laminate
If a household covering is chosen for an apartment, designed for not very high traffic, it requires special care when cleaning and quickly becomes unusable. When buying a laminate, commercial grades 31 and 32 are preferred, which are more wear resistant and can be exposed to water. There are several things to consider when caring for them.
– Optimal for flooring is dry cleaning using a broom or vacuum cleaner equipped with a long bristle brush.
– Shoe marks and other abrasions are removed with an eraser or a cloth slightly dipped in vegetable oil.
– Use a wax crayon to paint over small scratches.
– Deeper damage and chips are filled with a special paste or putty of a suitable color, after drying, they are sanded and varnished.
– The laminate should be polished with special compounds, do not use mastics or wax.
Cleaning should be done frequently so that no sand and dust particles accumulate on the floor, which can scratch the floor. The use of a laminate flooring vacuum cleaner is not recommended.
After vacuuming, the floor can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth. But the way how to care for the laminate in the apartment and what to use for wet cleaning depends on the class of coverage. In any case, to cover, you need to use a soft cloth soaked in water and wrung out well, and a mop without sharp corners. Wipe the surface dry after washing.
Detergents must be suitable for cleaning laminated surfaces. Do not use products containing chlorine or acid, use solvents. It is allowed to add 5 tablespoon of vinegar to 1 liters of water for cleaning the floor. Cleaning powders, hard rags, metal brushes are contraindicated for laminate flooring.
A little acetone can be used to remove tough stains. The grease is washed off with laundry soap or dish detergent, after which the contaminated area is rinsed with warm water.
Natural and sufficiently durable material does not forgive mistakes during operation, it is sensitive to high humidity. If you follow the simple rules for caring for the laminate, its surface will remain the same shiny and attractive, and it will take a long time to replace the coating.
