PSYchology

By the evening, after an eventful working day, a lot of unresolved issues, unlived emotions, problems and tasks accumulate in my head. How to adjust to the “home” mood and leave all these thoughts at work?

1. Separate the territory of work and the territory of «non-work»

Divide your space into work space and non-work space. Start some kind of ritual to «move» from one space to another. For example, leave your phone in the basket in the hallway. Change clothes, or at least put on some special «home» accessory, such as your favorite hair tie.

Raise your hand up and quickly, as you exhale, lower it. Finally, just spit three times over your left shoulder. Gradually, your brain will learn to switch from work tasks to family and personal tasks while performing the ritual. Come up with something unique so that you don’t repeat it anywhere else, otherwise the “magic” will be lost.

2. Get some «home» scent

Smell has a very powerful effect on our condition. Don’t underestimate him. When you are greeted at home by a subtle, unobtrusive and at the same time unique home aroma, this contributes to an instant transition to another state. Choose the one that will be most pleasant for you, and at the same time do not skimp on quality ingredients.

One of the most suitable smells for relaxation is the smell of vanilla baking with cinnamon. Baking buns every day is unlikely to work, but you can try this scent for the house until you find your own, the best option.

3. Be alone with yourself

Set aside at least 30 minutes to be completely alone. Restore those resources that you spent at work. Take a shower, find a place to be alone, put on headphones with soft music and close your eyes, focus on your body and sensations.

Pay attention to every part of your body, focus on every point from your feet to the top of your head, gently relax tense places. This will shift the focus from the swarm of thoughts in your head to the sensations of the body, which also has something to say to you.

4. Show off your day

Find at least one task that you did well today (no matter how big the task is) and brag about it. Tell about it to those who are ready to rejoice with you. This will allow you to sum up the positive result of the day and build on it tomorrow. It is very important that the person to whom you tell can share your joy.

If there is no such person around at the moment, just stand in front of the mirror and tell yourself about it. At first it will be unusual, but if you add warmth of intonation to the story, smile at the reflection, you will like the result. Tell yourself how you support and appreciate yourself.

5. Sing something or dance

Singing always helps to relax and switch. This is because you are breathing deeply, using the full power of your diaphragm, turning on your voice, emotions. Dance movement therapy works great too. It is very important that the song you move to or sing to evokes positive emotions in you.

Try a new family tradition: start dinner with your favorite family song, sing loudly and all together. The effect will be deafening. Not only for your neighbors, but for you too. You will be surprised how much it can bring you closer.

6. Plan your evening the same way you plan your working hours.

In the evening, you are either loaded with household chores, or you don’t know at all what to do with yourself. Plan some pleasant and unusual business for the evening — the anticipation alone will help the brain switch and forget about the work routine.
