How to decorate Easter cake in an original way

For Easter, everyone tries to bake a delicious cake, traditional homemade recipes are also used, and unusual ones are also used. And now we want to share ideas for decorating pastries, so that they are elegant, festive and at the same time original. 

Glaze

 

Traditionally, the cake is decorated with a glaze hat. This can be protein icing, fudge sugar, and even chocolate icing. The latter, by the way, is now popular. Keep in mind that the icing should be used to cover warm cakes: they are no longer hot, but not yet cooled down.

Mastic

We are accustomed to seeing mastic on cakes, cookies and muffins, but mastic on an Easter kulich will look no less colorful and appetizing. She looks tight and jewelry will be especially effective against her background. With the help of mastic, an ordinary Easter cake can be turned into a real masterpiece. You can use a variety of food colors and make your own mastic decor. 

Mastic recipe

  • Ingredients: 200 g marshmallows
  • 500 grams of powdered sugar

Method of preparation:

  1. We send the marshmallows into a small saucepan and bring it to full softness in a water bath (or use a microwave oven).
  2. Mix it with 300 g of powdered sugar, mix and put the resulting mass on the table.
  3. Gradually add the remaining icing sugar and knead the mass like a regular dough.
  4. The mastic will be ready when it stops sticking to your hands. Then you can start sculpting figures from mastic.

Whatever base you choose, you can decorate it with purchased decor (colorful balls, shavings, pearls, powder, figurines – before the holiday there is a huge choice in any supermarket), candied fruits, nuts, dried fruits, candy crumbs and even fresh flowers. An exquisite option is meringue flowers. 

Meringue flowers

Bake regular meringue, chocolate pattern, or multicolor meringue as directed in the recipe. Let the meringue cool slightly and decorate the cake, previously covered with glaze. Meringue flowers are a very effective decoration, baked goods will definitely stand out spectacularly.
