How to choose a vacuum cleaner

Thanks to this, I think I can write a column “What definitely should not be in the house, so as not to clutter up an already small space.” However, in all this diversity, I never managed to find my ideal ward, who would go through fire, and water, and copper pipes. It was all the more interesting for me to test the Dyson handheld vacuum cleaner – there was definitely no such item in my collection!

My expectations: I, like, probably, every girl, would like my ideal gadget for home to be distinguished by elegant parameters, was compact, quiet and efficient. In all senses. Of course, I chose the vacuum cleaner based on its technical characteristics, but the appearance is also very important for me.

Vacuum cleaner characteristics: in fact, the manufacturers Dyson V6 Mattress specifically designed this model for cleaning mattresses and armchairs. By the way, people suffering from allergies, runny nose, skin rashes and other unpleasant things do not always associate these diseases with dust mites, or rather, with their waste products. And in vain! After all, the more often you vacuum and clean your mattresses, sofas, armchairs, ottomans and other pieces of furniture, the less you will be bothered by unpleasant symptoms.

1. This portable model weighs only 1,63 kg and measures 130 x 206 x 315 (mm). At the same time, the suction power is not at all small – 28 AVT (and in turbo mode – 100 AVT).

2. The Dyson V6 Mattress portable vacuum cleaner has a turbo mode that provides 6 minutes of increased suction power. By the way, about the turbo mode. When I first tried this thing, I was just numb. No, the vacuum cleaner worked much more powerful and faster, but … there was such a noise, as if a jet plane was flying next to me. In general, if you have small children, then you should not experiment with this mode in the immediate vicinity of the babies. Suddenly they will still be frightened.

3. Dyson V6 digital motor provides really high suction power and deep cleaning. And cyclone technology and 2 Tier Radial ™, an additional fine filter and a sealed design even help clean the air. Yes, that is also possible.

4. This model also provides for hygienic cleaning of the container. To empty a container with a volume of 0,4 liters, you just need to press a special button (what I dreamed of).

5. The mini electric mattress brush won me over. Thanks to this attachment, it is very quick and easy to remove dust from the upholstery.

6. And yet, for which I am really grateful to the manufacturers, this powerful cordless vacuum cleaner can be taken with you to the car and finally clean the rugs, upholstery and the space under the car seats (I always have all the garbage there, which is often missed at the car wash ).

Reality: this model won me over. No, really! The vacuum cleaner is so light and so comfortable in the hand that even after 30 minutes of cleaning the hand does not get tired. And yet, of course, I knew that a lot of dust and other harmful elements accumulated in mattresses and other upholstered furniture, but I did not even imagine that there were so many of them!

According to the conditions of the experiment, I cleaned one thing with this device for a week (mattress, sofa, cushions, armchair, couch, etc.) and compared the indicators (which, accordingly, entered into a special table). But even without the table, the results were visible to the naked eye. Fortunately, the container is transparent and after the cleaning procedure you can immediately see how much garbage has accumulated in one or another item. I will say right away that he coped with the mattress 5+! I never thought that I had so much nastiness there!

The only thing, as I already wrote, that the turbo mode, although very cool (allows you to do the work many times faster), is very noisy. And, by the way, you need to charge this gadget for at least 3,5 hours. But even with all this, the very thought of taking out an ordinary bulky vacuum cleaner, pulling out the cord, plugging it into an outlet, and then making sure that no one stumbles over this cord during the process evokes not at all happy associations! For a two-room apartment, the power of a rechargeable vacuum cleaner is enough. Still it would be possible to buy additional attachments for it, for cleaning not only upholstered furniture, but also the rest, then there would be no price at all for it!

Rating: 10 out of 10. I have no small children, and I don’t clean at night, so turbo mode is what I need!

– When the editorial office offered to test the new product from Philips, I gladly agreed. Firstly, at that moment I was planning to buy a new Vacuum Cleaner and could not make a choice in any way, secondly, I always liked the Philips brand technology, and thirdly, I was impressed by the color of the Performer Compact FC 8389. My expectations: Three functions are important for me in a vacuum cleaner – small weight (I didn’t want to lift more than 5 kilograms, and preferably less) and maximum ease of use (both when cleaning the floor and carpet, as well as furniture). Air purification would also be a nice addition.

Sounds good, but let’s give it a try!

Reality: First of all, apart from color, I would like to note the design of the Philips Performer Compact. The model name speaks for itself: the vacuum cleaner is really small and very compact (400 × 251 × 282 mm according to the instructions). It looks very light, but in fact it weighs 4,5 kg, that is, it has a standard weight.

The vacuum cleaner is assembled very easily. The power cord is pulled out of the case quickly, without additional effort. You can plug it in and forget it for the entire cleaning. When you press a button on the body, the cord is also instantly pulled back.

I would also describe the noise of the Philips Performer Compact as standard. I cannot say that the sound of the vacuum cleaner is too strong, I cannot say that it is barely audible.

But the power is very good. Easily collects everything: dust, candy wrappers, and crumbs.

The brush of the vacuum cleaner is also ideal: it glides perfectly on both parquet and laminate, adapts to the corners. The carpet is another story. I have it light beige. Usually, after removing dust, I clean it with a damp cloth for prophylaxis. But with Philips Performer Compact this was not required. Believe it or not, the carpet is as good as new without it.

The annotation to the vacuum cleaner says. that he is a master of animal hair removal, but, unfortunately, I could not verify this. I have no pets at home.

But there is a white sofa on which there is also dust, albeit imperceptible. I was delighted that the Philips Performer Compact for furniture has a built-in brush that slides forward after removing the telescopic tube. Simple, fast and convenient.

I also note the bag of the vacuum cleaner, which is located in a special compartment and can be easily removed. Everything is as promised by the manufacturer.

Now about the purification of the air, which the Super Clean Air filter should guarantee. To be honest, I don’t know how to define the very ideal air. Of course, in the rooms after cleaning the smell was not the same as before. But I felt the same during the usual cleaning of the floors, and when I simply ventilated the room … Or maybe this is due to the fact that there are not so many unnecessary items in the apartment and I clean regularly?

And the last thing. Philips Performer Compact is made from 90% recycled materials! This means that almost no environmental damage was caused during its creation. Hope it’s true.

When cleaning, the car clearly did not have enough power to reach the very “bins”. As a result, dirt caught on the fibers remained on the carpet flooring. In addition, the battery of a vacuum cleaner, which has been in use for several months, is no longer enough for a complete cleaning of a two-room apartment.

The Electrolux with Swarovski crystals has moderate noise. The absence of a bag saves money and does not interfere with getting dust with a slight tug on the valve, which I found quite a fun procedure.

The cutter for hair and other elongated dirt stuck in the brush works very conveniently.

1. This model consumes a power of 1600 W, has a dust collector-aquafilter, a fine filter, a footswitch “on / off.” on the body, vertical parking of the suction pipe on the body of the vacuum cleaner and a long power cord (6 m). But the power regulator, for example, is missing.

Reality: in fact, this assistant was not as good as he was supposed to be. No, of course, “Thomas” does an excellent job of his duties and washes the floor impeccably, leaving no terrible stains behind. The vacuum cleaner is powerful enough, has a light brush, which, in principle, reaches almost everywhere, and, most importantly, after cleaning, there is no smell of dust in the air. On the contrary, it creates a feeling of cleanliness and freshness.

Then why did this model fail, you ask? Well, for example, the fact that “Thomas” is very heavy, especially with water. Plus, with this technique, it is quite problematic to move around the apartment (lack of maneuverability and a short cord). And also the process of cleaning this model takes much longer than cleaning an apartment. Exactly! This vacuum cleaner must be washed after each cleaning, having previously disassembled into parts, cleaned all parts from dirty water and be sure to dry, otherwise it will not smell like lavender. This is also a minus. Because when disassembled, this technique takes up even more space, which is sometimes annoying. And then it is also important to carefully assemble everything so that not a single detail is damaged.

Rating: 8 out of 10. Still, it turned out to be not quite perfect. After the whole family had safely “played enough” with him, the vacuum cleaner neatly migrated to the closet, where it still stands.
