House of joy in Penza

The “Smart Child” center, founded 13 years ago by Elena Shuvarina, a psychologist and mother of two children, recently changed its name. Now it is a Development Center for children and parents, which bears the bright and positive name “House of Joy”. However, this is far from the only project that Elena is implementing …

The name is very important: as you name the ship, so it will float. Why did this change take place? The fact is that we are changing and our priorities are changing. At the “Smart Child” center, we managed to create methods and technologies that worked very successfully. But now I am absolutely convinced that not only methods, technologies, programs matter – the way it is given is decisive. The very message, the very energy with which we, teachers, approach children. It is my firm conviction that the knowledge of the world should happen with joy and joy. Only people who are doing what they love, who are able to enjoy themselves, people who are inspired by what they are doing and want to share all this with children, create an extraordinary atmosphere in which you want to be as long as possible. That is why I gave my project such a name – “House of Joy”. Let’s go on a short “journey” so that you can feel the peace, beauty, confidence and harmony that reign in the “House of Joy”.

I am very grateful to my parents for allowing me to be myself, for trust and faith in me, for unconditional love. I carried through the years a feeling of love and security. They never imposed anything on me, accepting and sharing my choice – the choice of profession, hobbies. I remember that I started to sing and dance very early, and all these types of creativity have remained with me to this day. Today this is exactly what is most beloved and meaningful to me – what I express myself through. This is what helps me to maintain vitality, creative flow, the desire to create, not to stop and move on.

It all started in childhood. As a schoolgirl, I began to understand that my favorite subjects are taught by extraordinary people. Teachers with a capital letter. I felt special sympathy and interest for them as people. And, which is typical, they were all great lovers of life! It’s not surprising that I made such a choice, perhaps fate itself chose this profession for me.

As a student, I first got to practice at school. And … I was disappointed. In fact, everything turned out to be different, not at all the same as in my ideas, derived from communication with the best and beloved teachers. Where is pedagogy for children? What kind of individual approach are we talking about, what methods and techniques that would allow a child to open up, show individuality? These banal two cells on the right, three cells down – is this the main thing? Constant assessments, patterns, rigid instructions – all this inspires fear and disbelief in oneself. Although I understand that even working in the system, you can bring light, kindness, as real teachers do – caring, thinking, willing to generously share their heart with children. But the system does its own thing. And even if you want to give something truly, from the heart, the whole structure of the educational process at school interferes with this. Eternal reporting, teachers’ councils … It seems that all this was done in order to distract teachers from the most important thing – direct communication with children. I wanted to create a completely different world – a world that exists and works for the child and for the sake of the child. Real, not on paper.

What could be more natural for a child than play and movement? This is the very life of a child! Limit the child in this – and this will immediately affect his physical, intellectual and emotional development. When a child is seated at a desk and given textbooks, this is an indicator for me: first, ignorance of the child’s nature, his needs; second – reluctance or misunderstanding and building the process not for the child, but for oneself; the third – the economy on the subject material and the fourth – the inability to captivate the child. Sometimes even the most experienced teachers are unable to teach a lesson if the children are not sitting at their desks, but are located in free space. There is even an opinion that school desks are that deterrent, a barrier that makes a child obey the accepted rules. Remove the desks and the kids … will just leave! And all because it is impossible to conduct an uninteresting lesson in such an unusual, unconventional form. The teacher needs to make the learning process so interesting that the child can comprehend knowledge in joy, so that he is motivated not by the desks, but by the knowledge itself. The best form for such exciting, interesting lessons is play.

About the TV-Radost program on the Express TV channel

I have always tried to share my ideas and knowledge with others – with children and, of course, with parents. And I did share, but the usual circle of like-minded people was not enough for me, and then the idea arose to create my own program, which anyone could watch on social networks. We implemented this idea, Pavel Prokhorenkov found out about it and invited me to the Express TV channel. I am very grateful to Pasha for the amazing opportunity to share my thoughts, my joy and with thousands of viewers. This is very valuable both for myself and, of course, for the business that we are doing.

This is truly an extremely important and at the same time very effective area of our work. I have always loved everything related to folk songs, dances, games, this is close to me. But I constantly came across the fact that in everyday life our attitude to this side of creativity is somewhat, perhaps, superficial. And when I met Natasha Markina, an artist of the well-known ensemble “Miryane”, I experienced real happiness. Natasha is an unusually sincere person, folk art, music, folklore are in her blood. You don’t even need to wear costumes, she herself is a Russian song! And not just a song. Natasha has been working with children for many years, in addition, she collects the best examples of folk art – songs, dances, games in villages, in the outback. And he shares all this with us. This is so important and so valuable for today’s kids! Earlier, after all, the game was included in the everyday life of the family and no one specifically learned songs with the children: the families simply sang, and the children remembered these songs, absorbed them. We strive to develop this direction, so the folklore ensemble “Ladushki” has formed in our Center, and our little pupils and their parents have become its “artists”. Moreover, our singing club, as I call it, is attended by all the teachers working in the center, and not for some kind of “obligation”, they themselves want it! Listening and performing these primordially Russian songs, we literally plunge into the atmosphere of Ancient Russia with its traditional values - family values, in the first place. I am sure that in the near future all this will grow into a new intermodal art therapy direction.

Now I am starting to implement a new project – large and unusual. Now he has already taken shape, his vision came to me. It will be a Family Development Center, and the form of its implementation will be inclusive. This means that we will be with children with disabilities – they are called special, with children with autism. We will conduct our work in the spirit of art therapy, because art therapy is the most effective and gentle method that helps to help a child rehabilitate. This center will have no age restrictions: we will be involved in accompanying the family at its different stages, starting from conception. This is work with pregnant women, joint work of mother and child, helping therapy for families with special children. Working with your family is the most important thing, because only such work is truly effective. The work will be carried out through different modalities: isotherapy, drama therapy, dance, movement, music therapy. The fact is that a person manifests himself in different modalities, and in the one that is closest to a person, a child, he manifests himself best. Art therapy helps to deal with those emotions of a person, especially a child, which he cannot talk about. With the help of art therapy, you can establish contact, adjust the emotional sphere, smooth it, normalize it, harmonize it. The multimodal direction is most effective, since all the feelings through which a person can express himself are involved. Active creativity has a healing effect. The ability to experience your own inner world through creativity. It is a therapy that heals the soul. She brings back the colors of life lost in childhood.

About inclusive education

We include special children in an ordinary environment, in communication with ordinary children. Through this communication, learning processes are built more effectively for them, and at the same time for healthy children: they learn empathy – empathy, empathy. If we want to change the attitude towards this in society, everyone must make some contribution to this. It is very important. And this is especially important when working with autistic children, because for them one of the most important problems is adaptation in society. They are usually very vulnerable, it is easy to offend them, they do not know how to build contact. It is our task to help in this, including such children in a normal environment.

A child who feels loved grows into an adult who knows how to love. Therefore, it all comes down to the fact that we ourselves discover and know how to express this love. “I love you. I believe in you. I hear you. I respect your wishes and needs ”- this is the most important thing that we can tell our children. It is also very important to be happy yourself, because only happy parents can have happy children.
