How to say Happy Chinese New Year

  • Chinese people all over the world reunite on this day with their families, gather at a large table. Let us also follow this good tradition. Let’s get together as a large family in several generations, having previously prepared dishes for the feast together. You can add to the traditional list of dishes and exclusive dishes of Chinese cuisine, for example, Peking duck or jiaozi dumplings and niangao rice biscuits, which are prepared by the whole family.
  • During the Chinese New Year celebrations, it is customary to decorate everything around in red fabric, from red suits to red lanterns on the streets of cities and villages. This is due to the belief that the mythical creature “Nian”, who is determined to take away all material wealth on this day, is afraid of red and departs. Why don’t we dress up and decorate the interior in bright red – spring, sun, renewal, life?!
  • During the Chinese New Year, when congratulating their parents, children receive red cash envelopes – hongbao – as a gift from them. It is generally customary to present such envelopes on this holiday. If you give money to your loved ones on the day of a holiday that is not traditional for our country, it will pleasantly surprise and especially please them.
  • The first night of the new lunar calendar is accompanied in the Celestial Empire by massive bright folk festivals and fireworks, as well as temple prayer. Why don’t we also adopt cheerful entertainment and wise appeal to God. True, it will turn out not on the scale and performance as in the original, but launching fireworks, having a dance and song evening, and before that thanking God for the new spring is a good option to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
