Hair loss treatment: effective remedies and masks for hair loss at home

The problem of hair loss is faced by people of different ages and gender, and it is always very unpleasant. Over the past few decades, the incidence of baldness in young people has increased markedly, and the blame for this is the unfavorable environmental situation and the oversaturation of food products with harmful chemical additives. However, this is only part of the negative factors leading to hair loss.

Hair loss can be caused by the following reasons:

  • genetic predisposition;

  • Aging of the body;

  • Malnutrition and beriberi;

  • Age-related and pathological changes in the hormonal background;

  • Strong stress;

  • Dirty air and water;

  • Poor-quality cosmetics for hair;

  • Injury to hair follicles and improper combing;

  • Wearing tight hats.

As a rule, complete or partial baldness develops under the influence of several factors at once: for example, a person in whom all men in the family acquired bald patches by the age of 45, and who naturally has a very high level of testosterone in the blood, is very likely to repeat the fate of his ancestors, especially in the presence of harmful, nervous work. And a woman whose mother lost her hair after childbirth or during menopause may face this problem herself, especially if she eats, combs and cares for her hair in the same way as her mother.

Hair loss has a depressing effect on any person, has a bad effect on self-esteem and often becomes an indirect cause of failure in personal life. That is why cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies make huge money on baldness, offering customers “miraculous” shampoos, masks and balms that can restore their former beauty in an instant. Most of these products consist of well-known natural healing ingredients mixed with preservatives and fragrances.

Onion juice is the most effective remedy for baldness!

Why do trichologists single out onions among all the healing vegetables and fruits? Even annoyingly, is it really impossible to recommend something with a more appropriate and pleasant smell to strengthen the hair? You may be surprised, but it is the aroma that testifies to the exceptional benefits of onions for the health of hair follicles.

Sulfur takes part in the process of collagen synthesis, which is so necessary for the strength, elasticity and smoothness of our hair. This mineral is not produced by the body at all, but if a person eats fully and varied, sulfur deficiency should not occur. This condition is manifested by dryness and peeling of the skin, cross-section and hair loss, brittle nails, general weakness and fatigue.

In addition to sulfur, onions contain living natural keratin, and this is another argument in favor of applying onion juice topically, that is, applying it fresh directly to the hair roots. Keratin is included in most strengthening shampoos, but where is the guarantee that the rest of their components are useful, or at least safe for hair? But using pure onion juice, you will only benefit.

Recipes for healing hair masks based on onions

Before proceeding with the treatment of hair with onions, you need to consider several nuances of this technique:

  • Doing onion masks from time to time, once a week or several times a month does not make sense. So you get only a couple of hours of fuss and tears, and then a couple of days of an unforgettable and indelible “aroma”. You need to treat daily for at least 2 months;

  • The smell of onions from hair intensifies when wet: if you sweat a lot or get caught in the rain, it will certainly manifest itself, even if the hair did not smell when dry;

  • Onion gruel, applied to the hair, leaves behind a much stronger and more persistent aroma than carefully squeezed juice;

  • Onion-based masks, regardless of their complete composition, should not be kept on the hair for more than 30 minutes in order to avoid irritation or even burns of the skin surface.

Now we give recipes based on onions and onion juice:

  • Basic mask for hair loss with onion juice. First of all, hold a small terry towel over the steam so that it heats up and absorbs moisture, wrap your head so that the pores open and the juice is better absorbed, and in this form, start preparing the mask. Peel one large or a couple of small onions, cut into small slices, scroll through a meat grinder or chop with a blender, strain through cheesecloth rolled up in several layers. Remove the towel, gently apply the juice to the hair roots, massage lightly, wrap the towel around your head again, wait 30 minutes and rinse your hair thoroughly with clean water.

  • Mask of onion and tincture of capsicum. The procedure is the same as in the previous recipe, only one full pipette of tincture of hot capsicum should be added to the onion juice before applying to the hair. You can prepare this drug yourself (read about this below), or you can buy it at a pharmacy, the average retail price is 15 rubles. The tincture has a strong stimulating effect on the hair follicles, so this mask is suitable even for the treatment of complete baldness, and not just for thinning and hair loss.

  • Mask for baldness and dandruff with onions and garlic. Hair loss is very often combined with dandruff and seborrhea. If you have weakened oily hair with dandruff, frequent shampooing will not help, but, on the contrary, will exacerbate the problem. Try an onion and garlic mask: take 2 cloves of garlic for one medium head of onion, scroll through a meat grinder and apply the resulting slurry to the hair roots for 30 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Phytoncides – natural antibiotics, which are rich in onions and garlic, do an excellent job with the fungus that causes dandruff.

  • Nourishing hair mask with onion, honey and egg. One of the main causes of hair loss is vitamin deficiency. Try to solve this problem with a nourishing mask based on onions, honey and eggs. Scroll one small onion through a meat grinder, mix with three tablespoons of liquid, slightly warmed honey and one raw egg. Apply the resulting mass to the hair roots with light massaging movements, leave for 30 minutes and rinse with baby shampoo – just like that, honey will not come into the hair. You can use this mask no more than twice a week, on other days limit yourself to onions so as not to overload your hair.

  • Mask for dry hair with coconut oil, onion and beer. If your hair loss is accompanied by dryness, brittleness, itching and split ends, you can make this mask 2-3 times a week: grind two small onions in a meat grinder, add a tablespoon of coconut oil (burdock and castor oil are also suitable) and half a glass of fresh, unpasteurized beer. Apply the resulting mass to the hair roots, rub lightly, wrap your head with a towel, wait 30 minutes and rinse with a mild shampoo.

  • Firming onion lotion based on rum or cognac. Finely chop two onion heads, put in a half-liter glass jar with a screw cap, top up with rum or cognac, close and store in a dark, cool place for 7 days. Shake the infusion daily. Then strain and apply to the roots and hair along the entire length for 10 minutes before each shampoo.

How to get rid of the smell?

You just need to decide for yourself what is more important: smelling good or having healthy hair? Of course, there will be a smell, and there is no getting away from it, but onions help fight baldness better than other means, and if you are really worried about severe hair loss, do not wait until they fall out completely, but start treatment. You can cope with a specific aroma if you know little tricks.

There are three ways to partially or completely neutralize the smell of onions from hair:

  • By adding aromatic oils – Drop a few drops of lavender, orange, cinnamon, nutmeg, rosemary or sage essential oil into the mask. So you will simultaneously benefit the hair and clog the onion smell;

  • Using cosmetic clay – immediately after washing off the onion mask, also apply a slurry of white, blue or pink clay to your head for half an hour. It will absorb the strong aroma of onions, you just have to rinse your hair clean;

  • Rinse with apple cider vinegar solution – Pour clean cool water into a basin and add 9% apple cider vinegar at the rate of 1 tablespoon per 1 liter. After the onion mask, rinse your hair in this solution for at least five minutes, and do not rinse it off with water.

Bay essential oil is the most effective remedy for hair loss!

Bay essential oil – and this is exactly the name of the healing oily juice obtained from the bark of the exotic bay tree – is a truly unique remedy for hair health. It appeared on sale relatively recently, but has already proven to be highly effective in the fight against baldness.

Aromatic bay oil has the following types of therapeutic effects on the hair:

  • Strengthens hair follicles and prevents hair loss as a result of mechanical damage;

  • Penetrates the hair along the entire length, thickens them and smoothes the scales;

  • Has anti-allergic and detoxifying effect;

  • Eliminates dandruff, fights dryness and flaking of the scalp.

To achieve a pronounced effect, it is enough to add bay oil to any cosmetic hair care products: shampoos, balms, masks, based on the calculation of 10 ml of oil per 100 ml of product. If you are making a natural homemade hair mask, simply put one drop of bay essential oil into it.

In addition to the relative rarity of this essential oil, many people stop using its specific smell. It is very strong, and, according to people, is a nuclear mixture of bay leaves, cloves and allspice. For some, this aroma seems unbearable, but those who love the smell of spices usually do not experience discomfort during hair treatment with this essential oil.

Capsicum tincture for hair loss

In addition to those hair follicles that are involved in a person, there are also those that are in a dormant state, or have lost the ability to grow hair over time, under the influence of internal and external adverse factors or mechanical damage. To wake up and activate all the follicles, sometimes you have to resort to radical means, one of which is a tincture of red hot capsicum.

When peppercorns hit the scalp, it has a local warming and stimulating effect. The intensity of the impact depends on the proportions. In any case, for the treatment of hair loss, you will need the tincture itself, which can be purchased at a pharmacy or made by yourself.

Recipe for hot pepper tincture. Take 5-7 pods of red hot pepper, fresh or dried. Cut them across into slices 1 cm wide, put them in a glass jar with a screw cap, pour half a liter of vodka or medical alcohol, seal tightly and infuse for 14 days in a dark, cool place, shaking occasionally. Carefully strain the finished peppercorns, pour into a convenient glass container and store in a cupboard or refrigerator door.

Hair mask with tincture of capsicum. Mix 1 tablespoon of peppercorns with the same amount of warmed castor oil and any hair balm. Part your hair into long 2 cm wide sections and apply the mask to the hair roots with a large cotton swab. Do not rub the composition into the skin, make light blotting movements. Then wrap your head with a cellophane film, put on a woolen hat on top, leave the mask on for 30 minutes and wash your hair with a mild shampoo.

Recommendations for the treatment of hair loss with hot pepper tincture:

  • If you feel an unbearable burning sensation, immediately wash off the mask and next time add less tincture, or dilute it with water;

  • The complete absence of a warming effect indicates that the pepper is expired or improperly stored – warm and in an open container;

  • Vodka-based tincture can be diluted with water five times, and alcohol-based – ten times. Lower concentrations will not have a pronounced therapeutic effect;

  • Masks using only pepper and water, or infusions of medicinal herbs can only be applied to normal and oily hair. When dry, you should always add some oil to the mask;

  • Hot pepper tincture should not be used if the scalp is damaged, inflamed, covered with wounds, scratches or ulcerations;

  • The frequency of using masks based on hot pepper tincture depends on the desired effect: just once a week is enough to strengthen and thicken, if hair loss occurs, procedures should be done 2-3 times a week, and severe baldness requires daily treatment for 2-3 months.
