Grape Sensation: grape variety

The Sensation grape was created by the Russian breeder Vasily Kapilyushny. The hybrid is derived from the varieties “Talisman” and “Rizamat”, it appeared relatively recently. Due to its very large fruits, it is quickly gaining popularity among experienced winegrowers and hobbyists.

Variety “Sensation”: features of grapes

One of its advantages is the early ripening period. From the moment the buds open, 110 days must pass before the crop can be harvested. There is evidence from other winegrowers that fruit ripening occurs in 90 days.

Grapes “Sensation” – a very early maturing and large-fruited hybrid

The variety has the following characteristics:

  • The berries are cylindrical, elongated and very large. Their average weight is 20 g, and some specimens can reach 30 g.
  • The color is unusual – as it ripens, different shades of pink coexist with yellow.
  • The pulp has good firmness. The taste is pleasant, fully ripe berries have a pronounced nutmeg aftertaste.
  • The skin protects well from insects, is not prone to cracking. Imperceptible when eating.

The fruits tolerate transportation well and are therefore suitable for commercial purposes. The flowers of the plant are bisexual, the vines ripen well.

You can grow this unusual hybrid in your garden if you know a few of its features:

  • The plant needs pruning. You should leave 8-10 eyes for the shoot or 35 eyes for the whole bush. The main thing is not to allow overload, because the plant is large-fruited, and even 2-3 clusters per shoot is already a big load for it.
  • This variety has good frost resistance, withstands temperatures down to –24 ° C. But nevertheless, it should be covered for the winter, especially in the middle lane, in order to protect this rare variety from possible freezing and death.
  • The variety is resistant to diseases, but still it needs preventive spraying. For this, copper or iron sulfate is used in the form of a 3% solution. A couple of times a season, you need to treat the foliage with a fungicide, and an insecticide is enough once.
  • The cuttings root well and begin to develop quickly. This variety is not suitable for grafting. Many gardeners note its rejection from the stock.

During flowering, watering should be increased, the rest of the time you need to observe moderation, and not flood the plant. You need to feed the bush only after it has entered the fruiting period. In general, the care is practically no different from other large-fruited varieties, although this is a new hybrid.
