Giant pig (lat. Leucopaxillus giganteus) is a species of fungus included in the genus Leucopaxillus of the Ryadovkovye family (Tricholomataceae).

It does not belong to the genus of talkers, but to the genus of pigs (not pigs). However, both genera are from the same family.

This is a large mushroom. Hat 10-30 cm in diameter, slightly funnel-shaped, lobed-wavy along the edge, white-yellow. The plates are white, later cream. The leg is one-color with a hat. The flesh is white, thick, with a powdery smell, without much taste.

The giant pig is found in forest glades in the European part of Our Country and the Caucasus. Sometimes forms “witch rings”.

Edible, but can cause stomach upset. Mediocre, conditionally edible mushroom of the 4th category, used fresh (after 15-20 minutes of boiling) or salted. It is recommended to use only young mushrooms. The old ones are slightly bitter and suitable only for drying. The pulp of the fungus contains an antibiotic that kills the tubercle bacillus – clitocybin A and B.
