Demodex is a skin disease caused by the parasitic activity of a microscopic skin mite (acne gland) that lives in the meibomian ducts, sebaceous glands, and human hair follicles.

A skin mite lives on the skin of 98% of all people, but it is activated only with a sharp decrease in immunity, metabolic disorders, improper functioning of the digestive and endocrine systems, under the influence of high temperatures, under poor living and professional conditions.

Demodex symptoms

Itching, eye fatigue, redness, swelling and plaque on the eyelids, scales on the roots of the eyelashes, stuck eyelashes.

Useful products for demodex

Diet in the treatment of Demodex has the goal of restoring a high level of the patient’s immunity and establishing a healthy diet. Therefore, it is necessary to include foods with a high content of trace elements and vitamins in the diet.

Among the useful products for this disease are:

  • boiled lean meat;
  • dairy products (fermented baked milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, kefir);
  • foods that contain vegetable fiber: fresh vegetables and non-sweet fruits (salad, boiled potatoes, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, apples, grapefruit in small quantities), wholemeal bread, rice;
  • porridge (oatmeal, buckwheat, millet);
  • almonds, peanuts, raisins;
  • fresh juices.

Folk remedies for demodex

  • birch tar (for example, add to face cream) or tar soap;
  • apply kerosene to the skin and stand for several days without rinsing (there are several contraindications for this product: infection, skin irritation, severe inflammation, corroding abscesses, yellowing and peeling of the skin);
  • with chronic demodex, you can use laundry soap (make an ointment from soap crumbs with warm water) apply on steamed face skin for two hours, use within 2 weeks;
  • with demodex eyes, you can use a decoction of tansy (one tablespoon of tansy flowers in a glass of water, boil for three minutes, leave for half an hour, strain the broth), instill once a day on closed eyelids, 3 drops for 30 minutes, use for two weeks;
  • apply sulfur-tar ointment to the skin of the face at night and in the morning for 7 days;
  • garlic compresses (crush and apply on the face daily).

To prevent a relapse of Demodex, it is also recommended: replace feather pillows with pillows with synthetic filling, do not take a cold shower, do not sunbathe, do not sweat excessively or physically overwork, do not use cosmetics (except lipstick), wash more often with warm water and soap, do not use napkins for wiping the skin, do not touch your face with dirty hands, more often carry out wet cleaning in the house.

Dangerous and harmful products with demodex

  • foods that irritate the gastrointestinal tract: spicy, salty, smoked and flour dishes, fatty foods, bread and pasta;
  • foods that increase blood sugar and provide “nutrition” for parasites: pastries, cakes, buns, ice cream, etc .;
  • products containing histamine: citrus fruits, honey, sausages, sausages, salts, mature cheeses, canned products, mackerel, tuna, cocoa, alcohol, chocolate, egg white, pork liver, pineapple, strawberries, shrimps, tomatoes, avocados, eggplants, red wine , beer, bananas, sauerkraut.
