If you are doing renovation, we suggest you get acquainted with the most current trends of 2009 for inspiration.
Designers of decorative fabrics and wallpapers prepared for the new season in advance. The main trends of the year were identified back in January at the Parisian exhibition Maison & Objet.
Like in a palace
Despite the raging crisis in the world, designers continue to shamelessly promote luxury in all its manifestations. Some of the stands at the Maison & Objet in Paris looked more like the scenery for the films Dangerous Liaisons and Marie Antoinette. Surrounding yourself with richly embroidered silks and soft velvet makes it easy to lose your sense of reality.

Near and Far East
This season, the oriental theme is a clear favorite. Already last year, Japanese floral motifs were announced (asters, peonies and cherries bloomed magnificently on silk and viscose), Chinese genre scenes and stylized images of insects and animals. Now they are complemented by complex geometric patterns typical of the Middle East and Central Asia.

In terms of beauty and functionality, honeycombs will give a hundred points ahead of many architectural structures. For the first time, the pattern of adjoining hexagons was brought into fashion by the English decorator David Hicks. The fabric he used to cover the furniture of his award-winning clients was called the Queen of Bees. The number of Hicks followers is growing every year. Based on the shape of a honeycomb, designers come up with tables, screens, shelves, carpets and even radiators.

Virtual world
If you do not harbor any special illusions about the surrounding reality, designers suggest leaving it in the virtual space. Now you don’t have to surf the Internet for this – wallpapers and textiles have been developed with innovative coatings that create the effect of a three-dimensional image. Surrounded by walls with pixel art, it is as if you find yourself in a parallel digital universe. Do not take the word for it – check it out for yourself!

Maze
Looking at the design objects of the last season, you catch yourself thinking: “How confused everything is!” Labyrinth is one of the trendiest patterns: it can be seen on wallpaper, fabrics, tiles and tableware. You can look at the intricacies of thin lines endlessly. No wonder in ancient times the labyrinth was endowed with magical power! But keep in mind: when using this ornament in the interior, the main thing is not to overdo it. Otherwise, dizziness attacks in households are guaranteed.

Capitone
Designers fell in love with capitonnain again – but with a strange love! They scoff at the venerable technique as they please. Use buttons in contrasting colors, imitate wallpaper stitching, china, ceramic tiles and even plastic. The most inveterate radicals turned out to be the designers of the Diesel company: they simply photographed the quilted surface and printed the picture on an ordinary flat bedspread.

Graphics
Collecting graphics is not easy. It is necessary to store prints, drawings and watercolors at a strictly defined temperature and humidity, and preferably in the dark! Fortunately, decorative fabrics, wallpapers and tableware with prints that mimic graphic techniques are not so capricious at all. Feel free to put them up for everyone to see!
