Facial yoga and anti-wrinkle massage are simple techniques to help relax features. The promised result: smoother features, plumped skin. Is it effective? Isn’t facial massage counterproductive?

What is facial yoga?

Yoga, in its first definition, is a Hindu discipline that aims to bring together body and mind. By extension, it has become, in Western societies, both a sporting and spiritual practice.

Talking about yoga for the face is therefore another extension or even, in some cases, an abuse of language to stick to current trends. Nevertheless, it can be an anti-wrinkle self-massage which at the same time offers a moment for oneself and for relaxation.

Facial yoga and anti-wrinkle massage, what are the differences?

By the word yoga, we mean especially the words relaxation, relaxation, unity between his mind and his bodily expression. This massage can therefore be done during a classic yoga session.

Other than that, therefore, there is no real difference between facial yoga and anti-wrinkle facial massage. Both aim to relax the features in a natural way and thus prevent the face from tightening and forming wrinkles.

The massage is nevertheless different from the facial gym, based on very studied grimaces.

How to do a facial massage?

About fifty muscles govern our face and our expressions. Of which there are approximately 10. This is to say if the face is used in a day, often without realizing it.

Over time, certain expressions remain in a way engraved. Genetics can also lead to more or less marked wrinkles. But caring for your face throughout your life, without being tempted by cosmetic surgery, can slow down the aging process.

Among the muscles of the face, there is the elevator muscle of the angle of the mouth, which governs the movements of the upper lip. Or even the zygomatics, as well as the pyramidal muscle of the nose which causes a frown.

Or a whole perfectly orchestrated system that the facial massage helps to relax.

Example of facial massage

For a successful facial massage that kills two birds with one stone, do it in the evening after applying your night care. Or even in the morning to wake up your complexion.

Apply your cream first on your cheeks, moving up from the wings of the nose to the temples. Pass two fingers delicately several times in the same direction. Breathe while applying the cream, exhale after each pass.

Then, do the same gestures from the bottom of the chin up towards the ears. All this without pressing too hard so as not to wrinkle the skin at eye level.

You can also gently stimulate the tsubo points (the Japanese equivalent of acupuncture points) near the wings of the nose, behind the ears and on the temples.

The massage accelerates the blood micro-circulation and thus boosts the production of collagen and elastin. This ultimately helps prevent some of the sagging skin.

To help you with this, you can use anti-wrinkle massagers. These are now found everywhere but it is the Asians who got started first. They allow in a few mechanical but gentle gestures to really stimulate the skin, without effort.

Is self-massage for the face safe?

There is no danger in massaging your face, as long as you do it gently. Otherwise you could irritate your skin if it is sensitive.

Conversely, the facial gym can have some contraindications. Indeed, even if no study on the subject has been made, we do not really know if it is effective. Some believe that on the contrary, it causes movements that can increase wrinkles.

If you prefer the gentle method, self-massage and facial yoga are good solutions. This allows you both to take care of your face but also to relax and to offer yourself a moment of well-being.
