Baking soda is a real purifier for really clean hair. By its purifying virtues, it will allow you to space the washes, which will do good to over-used hair. Bicarbonate also has moisturizing properties, so it is ideal for making a mild shampoo.

Baking soda and hair: how to use it?

Baking soda and hair go hand in hand as long as it is used well. For quick and easy use, you can add a teaspoon of baking soda to your regular shampoo to bring freshness and shine to your hair. If you prefer to bet on a 100% natural formula, you can make your own baking soda shampoo.

Be careful, however, used at too high a dose or too regularly, bicarbonate shampoo can dry out the hair. Limit the use of baking soda on your hair to once a week.

If you have colored or highlighted hair, baking soda is to be avoided because it is a natural bleach. It would remove your coloring in a few shampoos or lighten the color. Likewise if you have fragile, frizzy or very fine hair, it is better to favor softer products.

Baking Shampoo Recipe

To make your shampoo with baking soda, several recipes exist. The simplest is to mix one part of bicarbonate in three parts of water. You can make the mixture in a bottle of water, so that the mixture is easier to apply afterwards. Without chemicals like sulfate, this shampoo will not lather. Do not panic, pour your baking soda shampoo on your hair, gently massage the scalp and lengths to make the mixture penetrate, before leaving for 3 minutes. Rinse with clean water.

Recipe :

  • Mix 1 part of bicarbonate to 3 parts of water
  • Pour over your hair
  • Gently massage
  • Leave on for 3 minutes

Baking soda and apple cider vinegar: the winning duo for beautiful hair

Second method for a cleansing and moisturizing action: mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with a glass of water, to obtain a more or less fluid paste. Adapt the dose of bicarbonate to the length of your hair: 1 spoon for short hair, 2 spoons for medium-length hair, 3 spoons for long hair. As with the first method, apply the paste to your hair, massaging gently and leave on for a few minutes. Rinse well.

This time, we don’t stop there: mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and add a small glass of water, as well as a few drops of Ylang-Ylang essential oil. Apply the mixture on the lengths and leave on for 5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. This second mixture will act as a conditioner and complement the effects of the baking soda. Indeed, the vinegar nourishes the hair in depth and tightens the scales of the hair for a shiny hair.

The scalp is purified, the lengths hydrated: your hair regains strength and health, thanks to 100% natural treatments. Don’t panic, the smell of vinegar passes quickly and Ylang-Ylang essential oil will take over for a delicate fragrance.
