December 1 is the World AIDS Day. Worldwide, nearly 37 million people are infected with HIV. In Europe, the rate at which new cases of infection with this pathogen are registered each year has increased by half. It is an epidemic that is still difficult to talk about, and patients are constantly faced with misunderstanding, intolerance and fear.
In 2016, a record number of 160 was registered. cases of HIV infection in the European region – warns the World Health Organization (WHO). As much as 80 percent these infections occur in the countries of Eastern Europe. If nothing changes, it will be difficult to contain the growth of the HIV epidemic by 2030.
Compared to other countries, Poles still perform tests for HIV too rarely. So far, only 5 percent. the adult population performed such a study.
