Elisa Tovati: The truth, “a real mother hen”

It’s a very rich year for you: a baby, a film and a third album that has hit the shelves since this summer. How do you reconcile career and life as a mother?

I am fortunate to be surrounded by my family and my husband. For now, Baby is still traveling with me (note in my stomach), it’s practical, but it’s true that sometimes it’s a bit of a race …

Your popularity is growing and your 3 year old son is growing up. How do you explain this fame to him?

I do things naturally. He is happy, for him it is “normal”. Finally… he knows that his mom sings with a man called Tom Dice. Sometimes he asks me why he can’t come to TV with me, I explain to him. Otherwise, he loves to sing in front of the screen and I also sometimes take him to rehearsal.

What mother are you?

I am very mother hen and very close to my son. I integrate it and include it in all my activities, in my life. There is no gap between him and me.

For your second pregnancy, are you more serene?

Yes, I am much more serene. I was so busy with my album, the promotion of the film, that things seemed easier to me, I didn’t have time to worry.

You will be giving birth soon. Are you more of the type who wants to make the most of the last moments of pregnancy or, on the contrary, are you impatient to see Baby?

For now, I am happy to have these moments, that it is still in my belly. I take full advantage of it to do what I have to do. But when my agenda is a little empty, I will of course be fully happy to have him by my side.

Perhaps you have already chosen the first name of your second child?

Yes, we have already found the baby’s first name. I talk to my husband a lot, and we are generally on the same page …

You are of a Moroccan Jewish father and a Russian mother. Does the education you give to your child transcribe this interbreeding?

Absolutely, I come from a north-south mix. I naturally pass on this crossbreeding to my son, because of religion, traditions and also the way I behave.

The main values that you want to pass on to your children?

It’s something I never really thought about. But when I see my son so tender to me, the way he expresses himself. He is very endearing and free… It is a child like that that I wanted…

You will be giving birth shortly. Early discharge from maternity is currently being tested in several departments, what do you think?

All pregnancies and childbirth are different. After a difficult birth or cesarean section, it is nice to stay in the maternity ward. Some women also experience a baby blues. To be up to the task when you return home, it is important to feel surrounded by people.

I think it’s a very personal choice. I don’t know how I’ll be after giving birth, but I wish I had the freedom to come home faster, if I think I can handle it when I get home.
