Elastic blade (Helvella elastica) photo and description

Elastic lobe cap:

Complex saddle-shaped or “vane-shaped” shape, usually with two “compartments”. The diameter of the cap (at its widest point) is from 2 to 6 cm. The color is brown or brown-beige. The pulp is light, thin and brittle; there is a certain amount of exaggeration in the name of the mushroom.

Spore powder:

Colorless.

Elastic blade leg:

Height 2-6 cm, thickness 0,3-0,8 cm, white, hollow, smooth, often slightly curved, somewhat expanding towards the base.

Spread:

Elastic lobe is found in deciduous and mixed forests from mid-summer to late September, preferring damp places. Under favorable conditions, it bears fruit in large colonies.

Similar species:

Lobes are very individual mushrooms, and Helvella elasica, with its double cap, is no exception. An exclusive project, completely handmade, you will not confuse with anything. However, the Black Lobe (Helvella atra) is distinguished by its darker color and ribbed, folded stem.

Edibility:

According to various sources, the mushroom is either inedible at all, or edible, but completely tasteless. And what’s the difference, it’s not so common to arouse interest among procurers.
