Developing the child’s abilities

Developing the child’s abilities

Nadezhda Sergeeva, a harp teacher and laureate of various international competitions, shared the main rules for raising talented children with Woman’s Day.

The first step: deciding on a talent

Success, recognition, money – all this we want for our children and we are trying to make Angelina Jolie out of our daughter and Pavel Bure out of our son. But we don’t always do the right thing. The most important thing is what the child really wants, not you. The task of parents is only to identify and develop the talent of their child.

When the baby is three or four years old, take a closer look at him. What does he like to do the most? Sing along to every song on the radio, run or paint on the pavement? Based on this, choose a section or circle. Better go to art school. There you can study music, dance and painting. If the baby does not show a pronounced interest in one thing, let him try several directions.

Now let’s imagine that the child has made up his mind. For example, he likes music. Your task is to help him decide which musical instrument he wants to play. To do this, offer him several options, take him to a musical performance, let him listen to the corresponding disc.

Second step: choose a good teacher

The next important point is the choice of a teacher. A poor teacher can ruin interest in a child’s talent and ability at the root. But how do you recognize a good teacher?

First, pay attention to the results of the prospective teacher: what he achieved and what heights his students achieved.

Secondly, look at how the teacher communicates with your child. He must be able to find a common language with the child right away. It is impossible for the teacher to shout at the kid, let alone beat him. Activities should bring joy to the child. The task of the teacher is to praise even the smallest successes, but at the same time not to let them relax.

Step Three: Believe in and Help Your Child

To achieve serious success, you cannot do without parental control. There are, of course, very responsible children who do everything themselves. But more often than not, moms and dads need to check how their child performs tasks. Sometimes you can go for a trick: ask the teacher to give you and your child joint lessons. As a rule, children like to be engaged in creativity not alone, but with their parents. In the meantime, by completing tasks with your child, you will be able to find out how good he is at drawing or dancing.

And the most important thing. To develop your baby’s abilities, you have to believe in him! Even if the teachers say that he lacks talent, even if the performance did not go as well as the child could … Your task is always to cheer up the child. You have to explain that you can’t get hung up on failure. You just have to do a lot. After all, ability is only five percent of success, everything else is desire and hard work!
