Any soil for planting honeysuckle is suitable, with the exception of sandstone and clay soil with an excess of moisture. The ideal option would be a neutral, fertile and well-drained composition.

Before planting honeysuckle, a layer of organic fertilizers is placed in the prepared hole. After that, the roots are gently straightened, placed in the hole and sprinkled with earth. It is impossible to deepen the root collar too much. The planted plant is well watered and the soil around it is mulched.

Honeysuckle is not demanding to care for, but it grows and develops very well if you periodically carry out such activities with it:

  • weeding;
  • loosening;
  • mulching;
  • watering;
  • application of organic fertilizers;
  • pruning;
  • prevention of pests and diseases.

Pruning should be done after the foliage has completely fallen off or in early spring. At the same time, sanitary pruning is carried out annually, and rejuvenating once every few years (usually 2-3 years).

Old bushes must be completely rejuvenated. For this purpose, the shrub is completely cut off, leaving only a few shoots half a meter high

Ornamental honeysuckle has earned the love of gardeners due to its aroma and very beautiful flowering. In growing, the plant is not capricious and in a short time is able to decorate a rather large area (for example, braid a gazebo, fence, arch). A minimum of time and money is spent on care, the bush tolerates the winter perfectly, therefore, the cultivation of climbing honeysuckle is possible even for novice gardeners.
