Clery strawberry: variety description

Intense appetizing aroma, chiseled shape of berries and sweet taste make the “Clery” variety one of the most desirable among strawberry lovers. Thanks to Italian breeders, this variety has gone on sale all over the world. Strawberries “Clery” are early-grade ones, and in terms of taste and appearance they are not inferior to “Roseanne Kievskaya” and “Honey”.

Description of the strawberry variety “Clery”

It is characterized by early fruiting: the first berries can be harvested at the end of May, and a full harvest occurs at the beginning of June. The berries are bright scarlet in color and have a regular conical shape. Due to the dense skin, strawberries hold their shape and do not soften during storage. Fruit weight reaches 35-40 g.

Strawberry “Clery” has a very sweet taste, which is perceived by many as a disadvantage of this variety.

Even in the photo, strawberries of the “Clery” variety look appetizing, having felt its aroma in the garden, it is impossible to pass by and not try. She has a special sweet, even overly cloying taste, and many believe that this is her disadvantage.

The yield of the variety is average – from 200 kg to 10 tons per hectare, and in the first year of planting it is much less

Berries can be eaten fresh, frozen, canned and be sure that they will not lose their richness and characteristic sweetness.

One landing should be calculated for 4 years. The optimal time for this is mid-August. Leave a distance of at least 40 cm between the bushes.

Berries can be grown both outdoors and in greenhouses, tunnels and under arches. The quality of the soil does not matter much: some gardeners note that strawberries bear fruit even on sandy loam soils.

The bushes are not susceptible to diseases, but occasionally chlorosis associated with insufficient nutrition can be recorded. This variety reproduces with antennae, which gives a large number.

Frigo technology – planting freshly dug seedlings that have undergone special treatment, rather than the “cassette” method – a method using cups or containers filled with nutrient soil

The bushes do not require special care, but it should be borne in mind that Clery is an Italian variety, so you should not wait for the harvest without a sufficient amount of solar heat. In winter, it is necessary to cover with sawdust or corn, so as not to freeze the sultry Italian.

Clery is an excellent choice for both amateur and industrial cultivation. Even beginners can do planting, the main thing is to choose healthy seedlings that will give a rich harvest, and provide minimal care.
