Characteristics of a preschooler child: how to write?

Even a very young child may need a characterization. He can be transferred to another kindergarten, sent to the medical and pedagogical commission, and sent for treatment. New caregivers should know everything about him. Therefore, writing a characteristic should not be approached formally.

Characteristics for a preschooler child

What do you need to know about a child?

A characterization for a baby is an important document. After reading it, a stranger should understand what knowledge, skills and abilities have been formed in the child, how much they correspond to state standards (you can find them in the basic “Kindergarten Education Program”), whether he can communicate with other children and with adults, what is the state of his health, whether his physical development corresponds to the norms for a given age. Therefore, you need: – the basic “Kindergarten education program”; – the child’s medical record; – diagnostic data for various types of activities; – information about the family.

A lot also depends on where exactly the characteristic will be directed. If we are talking about transferring to another kindergarten, it is necessary to focus on knowledge, skills and abilities, if to a medical institution, the state of health and physical development should be described in more detail.

The most common way to raise funds for a preschooler is observation. See how the child behaves during games, regime moments, classes. How age-appropriate are cultural and hygienic skills, motivation for learning activities, initiative in games? Describe what you saw. Compare the results of your observations with the data located in the corresponding section of the basic “Kindergarten parenting program”. Make a conclusion about the level of development of the child. It can be medium, higher, or lower.

The necessary data can also be obtained using diagnostics. Educators usually conduct it at the beginning and at the end of the school year in each direction of educational and play activities. But intermediate diagnostics are also practiced. Using this method, you can find out how developed the child’s speech is, whether he has the skills of comparing objects, counting, knowledge about the world around him, etc. To determine the level of development of communication skills, create several play situations during which the child will have to solve this or that communication problem, and note how he coped with this. Look in the “Program” what cultural and hygienic skills a child of this age should have. Write down what your ward can do and what is not yet available to him.

When transferring from a specialized kindergarten to a preschool institution of a general developmental type, recommendations are usually given for the correction of individual skills and abilities.

Information about the health of the preschooler should be indicated in as much detail as possible. In every kindergarten, the child has a medical card, which records whether he has a congenital pathology, what he was sick with, whether there are chronic diseases. Information about physical development and vaccinations is also entered there. It is not necessary to rewrite everything – the kid will take this card with him to another kindergarten or to a sanatorium. Write down the health group, information about physical development, about chronic diseases and congenital abnormalities.

If there are restrictions on diet or physical activity, please indicate this. The teacher in the new kindergarten may not look at the medical record, and the characteristic will definitely fall to him

After you collect all the necessary information, you just have to write the document itself. As with any other characteristic, the name of the document is written first. Under it – for whom this document was drawn up, that is, the surname and first name of the child in the genitive case. Do not forget to indicate from what time the child has been in your group. Next, enter information about physical development, diseases and restrictions on nutrition and physical activity. Then describe the level of development of cultural, hygienic and play skills, the level of mental development. Indicate which knowledge, skills and abilities are age appropriate, which are lagging behind or ahead. Please sign and date.
