Can I freeze boiled rice?

Reading time – 3 minutes.

If you have frozen rice, then know:

First, it’s a great alternative to just drying the rice and throwing it away.

Secondly, if boiled rice is frozen correctly, you can cook delicious and very healthy dishes on its basis – or simply defrost it as a side dish.

Now let’s figure it out. Rice is not boiled for 1-2 servings, as it is very boiled – even from a 250-gram glass of rice, almost 700 grams are obtained. And it’s great that rice can be frozen and not thrown away. How to freeze? It’s very simple: add butter, salt and spices to boiled rice, mix, arrange in containers, cool – and put the rice in the freezer. If you are in a hurry, fill the sink with cold water and put containers with rice in it, so it will cool down in an hour or two. Within a couple of weeks, the rice will definitely be very tasty and even retain some of the benefits. Well, then the rice will slowly begin to dry out and lose its taste, so it is not recommended to store boiled rice for more than a month.

How do you cook the rice then? – Just defrost it in the microwave and heat it up. You can add gravy, stew, fried vegetables to rice, or serve neat.

You can also freeze rice with vegetables, minced meat, stew and even pilaf – just eat the dish within a couple of weeks.
