Bream fishing in November

Most fishermen end the fishing season with the beginning of autumn. The children’s studies begin, the days become short, the nights become cold. But the real fans of fishing do not stop with the advent of cold weather. Fishing for bream in November is less prey compared to the summer months, but catching fish is more fun.

Naturally – preparing for the winter. What does a bream do in winter? The largest individuals are in a state close to suspended animation. In winter, there is not much food for bream. And if a big fish starts moving, energy consumption will increase, and there will be nothing to replenish it. But smaller individuals continue to lead a lifestyle like in summer. In the northern latitudes, long dark nights set in, and the fish try to feed during the day and especially in the evening, when the water warms up a little.

Search for bream at this time of the year should be near the places of its winter camps. These are usually very deep pits with little or no current. It makes no sense to look for bream on the rifts in winter, since too much effort is spent on keeping upstream. However, this fish retains the schooling nature of life, as it does during the summer months. When fishing with bait, you can get on a large flock, hold it and catch it well, because the size of bream flocks by winter becomes larger than in summer.

Often this fish by winter can be found mixed with another – silver bream. They usually do not tolerate each other very well, although they are very similar. The guster has more active habits, feeds during the winter months and can be caught all year round. The bream, on the other hand, happens to be nailed to the flocks of the bream, especially the small one, and travels with it.

Bream food becomes more high-calorie by autumn. He prefers larger baits and even sometimes starts to take on fry. Occasionally it is possible to catch quite large individuals, for some reason continuing to actively feed, when catching burbot, when the bait is a bunch of worms, a piece of fish or fry. However, this is more of a coincidence. Nevertheless, by autumn it is better to catch bream not on plant baits, but on animals.

The behavior of this fish is slightly different where warm industrial effluents flow into the reservoir. Usually in this case, the fish remains active, and even in winter it behaves differently than in another place. She may not have a hibernation period, and even in winter, quite decent specimens can be caught from the hole. If these drains are also rich in oxygen, then fishing will be like summer at all.

The effectiveness of bait: how to attract bream in November

As you know, in winter, the use of bait is not as effective as in summer. What factors are involved? First of all, due to the low temperature of the water, the molecules that transmit the smell over a distance spread over a large area for a long time. Groundbait usually has a pronounced aroma and taste components, and it immediately becomes less effective as soon as the water temperature drops to 4-5 degrees. It is this temperature that is established in most reservoirs by November.

In the cold season, much more attention should be paid to other senses of the fish – the lateral line, touch, vision. Both in winter and in late autumn, it is much easier to lure bream not with bait, but with the help of vibrations and the game of mormyshka. This is confirmed by the fact that the bream is caught on both the devil and the mormyshka, and there are also bites on the balancer. If the bait is used, it must have a large amount of live components. Moreover, it is alive – worms and bloodworms in bait should move under water and create vibrations that attract fish to the place of fishing. Frozen bloodworms and canned maggots in this case will not be as good as live ones.

Nevertheless, it is impossible to completely deny the effectiveness of bait in winter. Of course, it will not give such a result as in summer, and will not collect all the fish from the area. But if the fish came up, keep it in place, even when one or the other fish from the flock are caught, it will help. After all, as in summer, the bream is looking for good food objects, where you can find food and feed yourself in cold water. Therefore, if there is bait at the bottom, it is able to provide a bite if a flock of bream has approached.

The most effective way to catch bream in November

No, this is not catching bream on a feeder in the fall. And not fishing on the bottom gear. Fishing at this time of the year is quite difficult, especially from the shore when the edges appear. It is difficult to reach large holes where bream usually stands at this time of the year. Therefore, fishing should not be from the shore, but from a boat. It will make it possible to find fish immediately with the help of an echo sounder, and not waste time, because the autumn days are short. This will be especially effective on a large body of water, where fishing from the shore at this time of the year often makes no sense at all.

Fishing from a boat is carried out on a mormyshka. A large “bream” mormyshka has a large hook for planting an animal bait – a worm, one or more, or a large bunch of maggots. You should not grind with bait, because a large piece and the mouth rejoices. Especially in winter, when there is little food at the bottom. Mormyshka is designed to work at great depths, from 4 meters or more. Therefore, it has a significant mass, not less than six grams. You can catch the devil, but it is better with hooking three maggots on hooks or replanting foam rubber soaked in flavoring, since the bream is still largely guided by taste and smell when searching for food, even in winter.

It is quite difficult to catch mormyshka from a boat that is at anchor. The fact is that the boat will oscillate, regardless of whether it is on two anchors or on one. The length of the anchor lines is great, since the depth of fishing is large, and still it will not be possible to keep the boat motionless. At the same time, the mormyshka will twitch randomly and only scare away the fish. It is much easier to fish from a boat that is just moving quite slowly. In this case, a water parachute, an electric motor or the help of a partner, who slowly rows with oars, is used. In parallel, fish are searched with an echo sounder and the bottom is tapped with a jig.

Fishing with feeder and bottom gear

Fishing for bream in October, September and November is different from summer. It is best to look for areas for fishing, which even at this time of the year do not suffer from a lack of heat. These can be shoals, but at a good distance from the shore, since the bream is still shy and will not come to the place where the angler sits nearby and the feeder constantly flops into the water. But at a distance of 30 meters or more, he is not so careful. You can also fish at depth, but there the fish react less actively to bait. Fishing near the confluence of warm industrial drains gives good results, of course, if they are safe enough. In such places, near BOSs and CHP drains, bream can feed all year round, and there is often no ice there.

The search for fish is of great importance for the success of fishing. Fishing here can be different from sitting in the summer, where the angler sets up a platform and sits on it all day. Here you have to walk along the shore, fish in different areas, land on different fishing points, constantly explore the bottom and wait for a bite.

With such fishing, as at no other time, good casting accuracy and the ability to explore the bottom in the course of fishing matter. Feeder fishing will be very similar in meaning to such an old method as a running donk, but it is much easier to use it with feeder gear. After all, the quiver tip allows you to feel the bottom well, tap it, and a good line will transmit both the bite and the nature of the bottom much better than the fishing line that was used earlier on the running donk.
