Beauty: take care of yourself while pregnant

Sauna and hammam: better to avoid

The heat causes the blood vessels to dilate sharply, which makes the heart beat faster. However, if you really want to indulge in the pleasure of the sauna or hammam – which is what most women in Northern Europe do – talk to your doctor. He will check your blood circulation and heart rate.

Sun exposure: sparingly

Do you love sunbathing? Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to the sun. But be careful, do not expose yourself to the hottest hours and don’t forget to spread crème solaire. Also remember to protect your face with a hat, because the sun favors the appearance of the pregnancy mask.

UV in the cabin: we forget!

It is enough said that UV rays are harmful to health. So, pregnant, we avoid any risk. Plus, you might already have heavy legs, so there’s no point in putting them to the test in an overheated cabin. Side circulation and pregnancy mask, it is frankly not the best!

Self-tanner: no problem

And why not cream your self-tanner legs? For the brave and the most gifted, you can of course put it on the rest of the body. It can also be used on the face, it is ideal for looking good. If you are not very comfortable with self-tanners, use gradual tan creams.

Essential oils: be careful!

They are not recommended by doctors. Why ? They would pass the skin barrier and therefore that of the placenta. They can also cause allergies. There are, however, some essential oils that can be used during pregnancy, despite misconceptions about this. Find out and choose wisely! For the more fearful, opt for vegetable oils or moisturizers.

Massages: if they are specific

Want to relax? Let yourself be tempted by a little massage, especially in the legs if they make you suffer. Know that there are special massages for pregnant women, we cannot recommend them enough to you …

Bath: not too hot

Do you need to relax and take a bubble bath? So, do yourself a favor. Before, it was recommended not to exceed 37 °, but a meta-analysis showed that even baths at 40 ° had no effect on the fetus. So make the most of it! Ideally, finish with a spray of cool water on your legs.

Exfoliation: a little, but not too much

To get a new skin and get rid of dead cells, there’s nothing like a scrub! Opt for gentle, less abrasive exfoliators. Other point : don’t scrub your face too often, they could stimulate pigmentation and therefore promote the appearance of the famous mask of pregnancy.

Hair removal: without reservation

“Am I allowed to wax while pregnant?” Fortunately yes, hair removal is not not contraindicated when you are pregnant! Moreover, it often happens that the hair is more important during pregnancy. Continue to use the method that works best for you, but if you are using wax to depilate your legs, prefer it cold. Hot wax will hurt your blood vessels.

Anti-stretch mark creams: yes!

The stretch marks, small purple then white welts, often appear around the fourth month of pregnancy. You will have it or not, it all depends on the elasticity of your skin. To prevent them, apply, from the 1st month, an anti-stretch mark cream. Moreover, there are special pregnant women. So, do not deprive yourself of it!

Slimming creams: not during this period

Pregnancy is really not the right time to try to lose weight! Certain products in slimming creams can pass the placental barrier. So, put your creams in the back of the cupboard, you will have plenty of time after childbirth to put them on.

Permanent / coloring: be careful

If you are used to coloring, try to space them out, or even stop them completely during pregnancy. Indeed, coloring products (solvents, etc.) are suspected of crossing the placental barrier. Little is known about their effects on fetal development. If in doubt, it is better to switch to natural colorings (without synthetic chemicals) or go without color for 9 months!
