5 questions before buying pregnancy clothes
  1. What are the basics?

A word of advice: stick to your style! From the first trimester, you can invest in good maternity jeans, a quality bra, maternity tights – because you will love to wear dresses! It is important to feel comfortable from the start. Take your usual size from before pregnancy. The future mom fashion specialists take into account the change in morphology and adapt their models to evolve over 9 months. Of course, if you’ve put on a little more weight than recommended, don’t hesitate to take a size up.

  1. When to change lingerie?

Do you have a magnificent neckline? Show it, but above all pamper it! Your skin is beautiful but fragile. It is important to invest in good pregnancy bras from the first few months. They will accompany you throughout the pregnancy. When going to the maternity ward, if you plan to breastfeed, don’t forget a nursing bra, which is very useful! At first, focus on comfort and quality with pleasant materials (organic cotton, seamless…). Also prefer clothes that have the dual function of pregnancy / breastfeeding: it is a good investment.

  1. Do I collect business (family, girlfriends…)?

Sure ! Jeans, for example, can be picked up second hand, because they are very durable. Today, some brands offer a selection of clothes that can be worn after birth as well. You can also wait for the sales, if that is the start of your pregnancy. But it is more random, because we know it well, the best parts are rarely on sale.

  1. How can I show myself off?

Many women discover a new femininity at this time of their life. Treat yourself! Do not hesitate to reveal your legs: naked, with leggings, tights or in slim pregnancy jeans… they inevitably appear thinner. Also wear dresses. It’s a real pleasure, for comfort, fluidity and lightness. On the other hand, it will be necessary to tame the volumes and avoid the total XXL look! Example: if you wear a loose top, bet on a bottom close to the body, and vice versa. For example, a light blouse over skinny pregnancy jeans, or a top that is closer to the body that will highlight your cleavage, over “flare” jeans.

  1. As for shoes, am I changing too?

You should know: when you are pregnant, it is not uncommon to take a half to one size size. If you feel the need, don’t hesitate to change your shoes. The key word of your pregnancy should be comfort (obviously, without giving up on style!). So we avoid heels of 10 cm and we favor those of 4-5 cm maximum, which allow to balance the body.
