Let’s start traditionally with the most affordable segment in terms of cost – floor-standing speaker systems are no more than 15 thousand rubles. At the same time, you need to understand that an affordable price in this case is by no means a synonym for something bad, and the brands presented make this clear enough.
Let’s first consider the speaker system of the Japanese brand YAMAHA, which does not need any special introduction. This is one of the rare samples when the quality greatly exceeds the retail price of the product. In our review, this is the most inexpensive system, and on the market in this class it is one of the best solutions. When buying a system, you should remember that almost all popular online trading platforms indicate the price for one column, and not for a pair.
The NS-125F is a two-way passive Hi-Fi speaker system. It is positioned as a front and in fact it is, but a significant proportion of users successfully use it for a rear sound device. One column has dimensions 1050x236x236mm and weight 7.2kg. The body is made of MDF, the finish can be different, including piano lacquer, and this option is the most spectacular in appearance, judging by user reviews.
This system uses a phase inverter type of acoustic design. Hereinafter, a phase inverter in acoustics should be understood as a hole-capacity in the form of a pipe in the speaker case, which expands the range of reproducible low-frequency sound vibrations (bass). This is done due to the resonance effect of the bass reflex tube at a frequency below that which is reproduced directly by the speaker (loudspeaker).

In order not to go far, let’s immediately consider another floor-standing YAMAHA speaker system. The NS-F160 model is twice as expensive as the one described above, but still remains in the budget segment. The characteristics that we will analyze, as in the case of the previous model, relate to one column.
So, the height of one floor stand – 1042mm – is almost the same as the previous one, width – 218mm, depth – 369. The weight is very significant – 19kg. The body is made of MDF with an external finish with a film with a “wood effect” pattern. The texture of the surface is very close to natural veneer.
NS-F160 is a passive two-way Hi-Fi class speaker system, monopolar with bass-reflex acoustic design. The nominal (recommended) power of the input amplification is 50W, the peak power is 300W. Reproduces sound vibrations in the frequency range from 30 to 36 thousand Hz. Resistance – 6 ohms. Sensitivity – 87dB.
The basic design of the speaker here is almost identical to the previous model, only the NS-F160 uses larger speakers: a pair of dynamic drivers 160mm in diameter, plus a 30mm high-frequency dome tweeter. There is a magnetic protection.

We immediately emphasize the key difference, it is also an advantage, of this model. The Attitude Uni One is an active system, which means it has a built-in amplifier. Let’s start traditionally with the most inexpensive option, and again it will be the legendary Japanese brand YAMAHA with the even more popular acoustic floor system NS-555. In terms of price, it almost falls into the conditional budget category, but in terms of characteristics it still significantly outperforms the simplest models.
The dimensions of one column are 222mm wide, 980mm high and 345mm deep; weight – 20kg. The design and appearance as a whole are unusually effective thanks to a concise, but solid and “expensive” shape and multi-layered piano lacquer coating. With the grills on and off, the look is radically different, but spectacular in both cases. The quality of materials and assembly is impeccable, which for YAMAHA products is more a rule than something outstanding.
The NS-555 is a 165-way passive Hi-Fi speaker system with bass-reflex acoustic design and monopolar radiation. Each column (loudspeaker) contains four dynamic type radiators – two low-frequency ones 127mm in diameter each, one mid-frequency cone 25mm and one high-frequency tweeter XNUMXmm. The Japanese definitely pleased me with a thorough study of the system and impeccable technical performance. Claims to this model are only frankly “audiophile”, where there is more subjectivity, and not factual.

The only thing is that in the exterior, the Victa Prime 702 falls far short of the appearance of the chic YAMAHA NS-555.
The dimensions of one column are 203mm wide, 1052mm high, 315mm deep. The body is made of MDF in several glued layers. This system is characterized by an exceptionally flat, almost perfect frequency response with minor nuances in the form of increased sensitivity in the middle bass. But these nuances are systemic in nature, so Simplerule experts listed them as shortcomings, as well as a slightly blurry localization.
On the other hand, the system as a whole shows an accurate, detailed, almost monitor-like transmission of sound material. Microdynamics is extremely accurate, excellent transmission of “non-obvious” nuances like reverb, overtones, etc.
The manufacturer’s assortment includes a much cheaper 2.5-way HECO Victa Prime 502 system. It is in many ways similar to the 702 model, but with less expressive characteristics. It also fully corresponds to the price.

In terms of assessing the sound quality, a certain negative can only come from those who have specific prejudices in front of speaker systems of the DALI brand. Otherwise, experts agree on the high characteristics of natural timbres, the correct placement of accents, detail, resolution and other typical parameters.
Opticon 8 can be confidently recommended for large rooms – an impressive potential in terms of power and supply scale will allow the system to truly “turn around”.
