Woman gave birth on a plane at an altitude of 12 kilometers

The birth was taken by the crew members of Turkish Airlines – at an altitude of 12 thousand meters.

Guinea-born Diaby Nafie decided to take a trip in her 28th week of pregnancy. The expectant mother had a ticket for a Turkish Airlines plane flying on the route Conakry (Guinea) – Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) – Istanbul (Turkey). The woman was allowed on board without question: according to company rules, a doctor’s certificate is required if the pregnancy is more than 28 weeks.

The plane took off. The stewardesses took up their duties: they began to serve food and drinks. But at some point, one of them, passing by place 22F, noticed that a pregnant woman was in pain and literally doubled over. Yes, they were contractions. Diaby has a premature birth.

At this time, the Boeing was high in the sky, 12 kilometers above the ground. The only thing that the crew could do in this situation was to take matters, that is, childbirth, into their own hands. It is not for nothing that they are trained in first aid in any emergency situations. Whenever possible, the passengers also helped. And when a child’s cry rang out in the cabin, everyone applauded.

“The girl was born when the plane flew over Mali,” the airline said. – The baby was named Kadiju.

The newborn baby was wrapped in a warm blanket, and the entire rest of the flight did not leave the unexpected passenger. And at the end they asked to take a photo with the baby as a keepsake. The airline posted these pictures on Twitter, accompanied by a laconic caption: “It’s a girl! Welcome aboard, princess. Applause to our crew. “

As soon as the plane landed in the capital of Burkina Faso, mother and daughter were immediately taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Doctors worried about the baby’s health, after all, she was born much ahead of schedule, and even in such extreme conditions. But nothing happened. The girl is feeling well.

Note that most airlines are wary of pregnant women who travel late. Some will not be allowed on flights if the period is more than 32-34 weeks, others will not be allowed to fly without a certificate from a doctor who is observing the expectant mother.
